selling gold bullion coins?

A lot of threads on buying gold, but havent seen one on selling it. Is it considered by ebay a risky item (as far as "dont do it until your account is really old and well established")? I guess I could see it going either way, surely there are scams out there but minted US coins are pretty standardized. Just saw an ad on the "daily deals" page and it got me thinking.

Very risky item, and the margin profit is low. Not recommended.

really easy to get scammed. Paypal/ebay will only take one on the chin if you are an old and trusted seller.

Margins should average 10-15% on bullion and that is saying you are tossing around a substantial amount of money. Hard to buy bullion much lower than 20% under spot price.

20% under spot might happen if you have a good working relationship with the vendor
No way am I going to give that for an unknown buyer

Re: selling gold bullion coins?

i understand the margin concerns, I was just wondering if Ebay would jam up my account for listing/selling them, or just be an extra butthole if I get an issue with a seller, or if its considered "safe". Sounds to me like its considered (from ebay's pov) semi-risky, in that I can list and sell them as long as I dont have an issue, but the first issue that arises will blow up my account. That sound about right?

In fact, I guess my question is more general. On a newish account, does ebay care if you list "risky" items (not including copyrighted stuff) if you dont ever get an issue with a buyer, or do they jam you up preemptively if you list a risky item too soon?

Bullion is inherently risky on ebay. Bullion has all different rules, fees, etc...

also, higher dollar items like this are deemed risky on the paypal side of things.

New accounts would be wasted on bullion & its foibles.
