Do truly unlimited accounts even exist?

Really old accounts are possible to still be grandfathered in, with absolutely no item or dollar limits. I had one and went from listing practically nothing to tens of millions of dollars worth, and the system didn't throw up and slap limits on the account then.

I was listing a lot (many variation listings, causing the total if ALL variations sold to spike), but not selling an absolute ton. 2 items shipped 1-2 days late due to family health emergency, and 3 buyers created bogus not as received claims without contacting me first on regular non-variation (not my specialty) items. Buyers realized they were wrong after I responded to the claims, and never escalated.

Got reduced to $500 limits, got them after a few months to raise $25k. But, no way to get back to being grandfathered, and no way to grow limits now more than doubling every month.

... Wish they'd actually go by sold items limits, not counting listed items... Lower limits would be fine with me, and turning off listings once hitting the sell limit would be fine with me. Sigh.

They exist with the sellers using them.

They are seldom sold here.

Forum has a price limit on the selling price of accounts.

Make sure you only deal with authorised sellers and not some blow in offering temptation.

From my experience they don't exist anymore.

Sometimes you'll get accounts without a limit showing. Some assume its an unlimited account, but they just have the limits hidden (usually show up at 1st month invoice or after 1st sale).

Its a risk thing for eBay/PayPal

There is really no such thing as an "unlimited" account. Even for older accounts with tens of thousands of sales each year, eBay is always monitoring their risk. So, while eBay may be hesitant to offend a client like NewEgg or BestBuy, they probably WOULD limit them if those companies had news leaking out of financial problems.

As far as the accounts that come up with no limits listed, if you get one, consider yourself fortunate. The limits usually show up in a couple of days and they are usually on the high side, either 500/25000 or 1000/25000. Not 100% of the time, but most of the time.

Now, I'll bet if Bill Gates or Warren Buffet applied for an eBay seller account, THEY would probably get as close to an unlimited account as anyone could get.
