What happened to my thread starter badge?
 

I am a thread starter. Why did my badge disappeared?

Doesnt that only appear in the forums when you started the thread you're talking in? I used to think it was because I started x number of threads in x amount of time, but isn't it just inside the actual thread that you started?


Correct me if I'm wrong, I actually don't know for sure.

If you start a thread then any posts you make in the thread thereafter will show you are the 'Threadstarter'

If you did not start the thread then it wont say 'Threadstarter' under your name in any of the posts on that thread due to you not being the thread starter.

It shows you as the thread starter on this post.

Why are you trying to measure your success or popularity here by the # of threads you started?

Creating threads asking questions that have been answered dozens of times before doesn't add any value to the forum. Not saying you do this, just pointing out that it's a worthless measure of any value.

A much better metric is "Thanked" posts. How many people found what you said in the past worthy of a "thanks" vote? That's the best measure of your overall helpfulness, if you're looking for some sort of "badge" to prove your worth.

Personally, I don't give a crap about any of that. I just speak up when I have info that's relevant to the subject. I advise you do the same.

Agreed.

A good measure of how helpful someone is would be to look at the number of thanks they've received as a percentage of posts made.

The people that just waffle cr@p for the sake of making a post are quickly found out. ;)

It's all about quality, not quantity. (And no "that's what she said" jokes please :d)
