I spoke to paypal accounting last year and was told they will check with the state if the LLC is legit and shows name of owner...

I did this check myself via the internet and sure enough easily found my LLC registered with that state and all info attached to that LLC was public.

If they check it and things don't match or it doesn't exist you may get limitation.

They cannot check Sole Proprietor.

All I am saying is if you go the LLC route then you really need to have a LLC with state after a certain amount of sales....

Oh man, I thought they merely checked to see if the EIN existed with the IRS.

Do all states show public info on the owners? I thought there were a few that had an option to withhold that information (For example, Nevada. And, maybe Wyoming, but that might only appear anonymous because you can put a surrogate on the board in your place.).

Wait, I stand corrected. You can hire a registered agent to put in the public record for Nevada, Wyoming and Deleware. However, I can imagine there's only so many registered agents available to hire, and I'm sure paypal knows of nearly all of them by now (At least the ones you're most likely to find).

I registered as a sole proprietor/single member llc. So I should be good.

I actually used an actual physical bank account that I had laying dormant for a few years. We have a tree service business, and so have many bank accounts that aren't linked to paypal. And I made sure the name of my eBay account is similar to our business.
