PP 200/$20K - Supplying EIN/ PP Address Matching With EIN
 

Dear Fellows,

Please help, your advice would be highly appreciated.

One of my PP accounts is approaching 200/$20k limit and soon will need to supply tax ID. Planning on supplying EIN as widely suggested in the forum. However I haven't applied for EIN as yet due to a few questions in mind:

1. While applying for EIN online, shall I provide business address as PayPal address or the real address matching SSN. Obviously the Business name would be entered in the application as the name on PayPal account
   
2. If EIN has the real address at the back end, then the question would be if PayPal checks the EIN address through some sort of records (similar to credit cards AVS where the address must match the billing address)
   
3. While supplying EIN, PP asks if the EIN has the same address as PP. What should be opted here?

Hoping someone will give a more complete answer.

But, if your PayPal address is #### don't give it to the IRS. Never give anything #### to the IRS.

I've been using online mailboxes, and using those addresses as my IRS/EIN business address so they match PayPal just fine. But, they're real addresses I can and do receive mail at.

Of course, the IRS has to be kept straight and has been kept straight !

..... And that's where this question arises whether PayPal tries to match the PP registered address with the EIN address. This is what my confusion is because at the bottom of the screen where EIN is provided in PP, it asks to click the box whether the business address is same as EIN. Do not know what clicking next would reveal. It might ask for the EIN registered address ???

Are you an American citizen? I think the reason many people are hesitant to answer this is because it can get really sketchy applying for an EIN from abroad, and few people have this issue.

Thanks very much for your reply to my post.

In effect my question is from US perspective (citizen/ resident). Though I am from UK. The query extends from the point that a US citizen/ resident has the EIN available for the business that is having the same name as PayPal but different address. Is there an address mismatch issue here if this EIN is supplied to PayPal? as PP specifically asks whether the EIN has the same address and then it shows the PP registered address for confirmation. Hope I am clear...
