| | | PayPalBusted | 03-30-2016 03:51 PM | Multiple Accounts at One Bank? I'm not concerned with opening multiple accounts, such as checking and savings, at one bank. But does PP look at it as being odd, does any review, or anything that if you had say five checking and five savings accounts all from the same bank and routing number spread out over 10 stealth accounts? Or is PP not able to see this?
I also worry when doing the instant verification for my bank when all the accounts pop up, I see the last four digits of the accounts that I know are linked to other accounts and then proceed to select the new account to link to the new stealth account I'm creating. |
| IGNAS | 03-30-2016 04:06 PM | Re: Multiple Accounts at One Bank? Don't worry, paypal can't see the name of the account (if you don't deposit funds from bank to PP).
Everybody does this and it's pretty safe and effective. |

Yeah I never deposit or transfer funds from my bank to PP.
Good deal. So I'll assume it's safe to keep several accounts at one bank on multiple stealth accounts.
I'll usually do 2-3 accounts at one bank for several stealth accounts and then do a few more at different banks. Right now I use three different banks, but I need more checking/savings accounts as I'm creating more stealth accounts. |

I've seen a member who had somewhere around 10+ accounts on the same bank with no problems.
But diversification is always a better option if possible. :) |

You would consider varying up the banks you use so your info looks more diverse.
I can confirm that a manual review could show paypal more than a seller imagine. This was some years ago here. A new user made a stealth account. Everything was different except for two points. Her category of items was similar to the suspended account. (listings totally new including photos.) She used the same bank and paypal limited her on that. They even told her....
In ideal stealth, you avoid similarities. 10 bank accounts same bank, on 10 ebay accounts mat flag the mission.

:typing: | This is interesting, I have never heard this story before. Seems like paypal has the technology/insight to ban a lot more accounts than they currently do now. |
| slokor | 03-30-2016 09:21 PM | Re: Multiple Accounts at One Bank? If opening accounts within the same bank make sure to space them out over time. Open two accounts at the same time and you end up with account numbers that are very close - perhaps even in running order or with the last 2 digits being the only differing ones.
Open them a couple of months later and the account number you receive will be completely different - hence less suspicious. |

:typing: | This is what I was getting at in my post. No doubt I do not put all my eggs in one basket. I'm somewhat diverse, but I could be even more if I really wanted to. That is why I asked the question as right now I have 2-3 accounts at each bank. I need more accounts for new stealth accounts and I was weary about opening more accounts at the same bank that I use for other stealth accounts.
Looks like I need to track down another bank. |

As for instant verification, I wouldn't do it. I personally wait for the deposits to verify. |
| aking | 03-31-2016 08:27 AM | Re: Multiple Accounts at One Bank? I have had 8-10 bank accounts at the same bank for use for paypal transfers with no problems in the past. Right now I have 5. It may depend on the bank as well.
I always do the instant verification with all bank accounts on paypal with no problems. |
| GhostOfAmazon | 04-03-2016 10:53 PM | Re: Multiple Accounts at One Bank? I second Apskins suggestion. Instant verification requires you to login to your Bank online, giving PayPal access to things they wouldn't otherwise have, potentially. |
| slokor | 04-03-2016 11:18 PM | Re: Multiple Accounts at One Bank? Actually its not paypal who do the verification but a third party company.
It is illegal for them to keep this information for any purpose and if theres a shred of proof that they do so it could land them in a hot spot.
I use instant verification only. I prefer it over the deposit method since the deposit method not only deposits those 2 amounts into the bank account but also pulls them out immediately. When that amount is pulled out the name on the account is pulled along with it (same as it does when a deposit is made from the paypal account into the bank account - showing the mismatched name) and a manual review of the account will show the mismatched name.
Ive verified every single account I create using instant verification and have never had an issue in all the hundreds and thousands of accounts Ive created over the years. |

Do you happen to know who the third party is? |

Just for the record, I've been using the Manual deposit from the start and haven't had an issues, but that said, I'm going to start using the instant verification method. |
| yotano211 | 04-04-2016 03:20 AM | Re: Multiple Accounts at One Bank? And OP, I would not do more than 5 or 6 bank accounts per bank. If these are all personal accounts, you can start a business and open a business account at the bank and get another 5 or 6 bank accounts from the same bank. And now you have your 10 accounts per bank. |

More diversity = less risk. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 02:27 PM. | |
