Paypal Called the "supplier" (me) a little insight for you guys
 

So I was limited on my friends paypal account that is new and im pretty sure it for two reasons: Its New, and i was with drawing funds too fast and too much.. I was just shy of 20 feedbacks.

Anyway, they limited it and were asking to confirm address, ssn, and supplier invoice and contact info.

The ssn was easy because its my friends that he provided and same with the address, but I have no invoice so i made my own with all electronic products purchased from the same place. The fictitious place was an address that i made near me and I made the invoice look good with a compony logo and everything.

The next day after I uploaded the invoice paypal called my vumber that was for the "supplier" I picked up saying "hello?" It was Dan from paypal, and he just wanted to confirm that I am a supplier. I told him yes. He then asked if I had a website, and i said no I just have a phsical location. He said oh ok. I asked about him again and where he is from and why he is calling and he said its hes from paypal and just calling to confirm an invoice that someone sent with you being the supplier.

He added that he has seen people try to ⊗⊗⊗⊗ these invoices" After that we basically said our thank yous and good byes.

30 mins later I get a suspension email.

I think this is bascially because I did sound like an established business. Now to be honest, I dont think I made it sound real that I was a store. The first thing I did was pick up the phone saying hello..? On the contrary, overall I dont think I boofed anything, but at the same time this Dan guy seemed smart and knows whats going on. Again, he mentioned that he has seen people ⊗⊗⊗⊗ the invoices and he was able to pick up that I didnt seem ligit.

All in all I should have been more prepared and maybe expect that 402 area code to be paypal and pick up saying, "Thank you for calling Joe's deals, how may i assist you" or something like that.

Lesson Learned, and hope you guys will be prepared for their call because it seems they are doing it more often for US suppliers.

I wonder if they still call if you buy off large wholesaler sites like Liqudation.com, and DHGate

I don't have a supplier nor do I need one at this point...maybe in the future though?

Why can't or won't people give PayPal their supplier? I guess I'm assuming if PayPal asks for your supplier you are selling a high volume of something and you actually do have a supplier...right?

Maybe someone can better explain it to me.

Well when paypal limts you and asks for supplier info they also ask for an invoice that has specific things that you sold. Those items are usually the last few things you sold in that week.

If you have items such as an xbox360, a dozen usb hubs, and some other misc equipment, then its hard to get an invoice when you simply do not for all the items they are asking for.

So thats when its convenient for alot of us to make an invoice with everything they want. Generally this seemed to work fine for people, but lately they are getting stricter and calling up the suppliers info.

I use a diff paypal account to buy things so I do not ever plan on sending them the paypal invoices i got on a different payapal account as they will most likley link us..

At one time a few years ago we were selling genuine designer clothing that we bought at retail outlets. Our Paypal account was limited and one thing we were asked for was supplier invoices.

We scanned the actual retail receipts and uploaded them to Paypal.

We were told that the supplier information was not acceptable!


Really odd, since doing that very thing is a business plan for many large Ebay sellers and there was even a family that became titanium powersellers doing this and their story used to be featured in Ebay publicity materials.

And what happens if you sell antiques or unique items found at garage sales and you HAVE NO supplier invoices?

See, everyone on Ebay is now being treated like a dishonest person or a boot legger even tho most of us are not.

I submited a whole new invoice and called this time instead of waiting for them to reply with an email, and I got them to lift the limit. "Our review is complete and we have restored your account"

The funny part is I got a permanate ban email; (the we would like to part ways that is least disruptive, bla, bla )

I find it better to FAX paypal. Never upload a thing. That way I have a record of what I have done. paypal find it hard to say 'we never got the documents so send again'. In fact I have been known to send documents several times.:sly:

It sounds like you didnt create a quality invoice with verifiable information and thats what triggered your suspension.

Using legit companys with modified phone numbers works well. Be prepared for calls as well.

I think you are in doubt. I always use quality invoices and when they called my supplier they probably thought it was a fortune 500 company (music on hold, extensions, company directory and all). Yet they still tried to give me a hard time however i did get the limitation removed. Yes its good to be prepared and it doesnt mean they wont call you even if you have all of the above.
