At what point will Paypal want ID/docs?
 

Hi Stealthers,

Using a stealth USA Ebay/Paypal account while in the UK very slowly at the moment, but it hit me that after a certain amount of sales, Paypal will ask for ID/docs for tax/security/anti-money laundering reasons

What do?

Any advice welcome and well appreciated!

I had a look at the IRS site, and apparently I would first need to obtain a ITIN
(Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) since I'd be a foreign filer.
If I use my real info to obtain the ITIN an EIN, wouldn't it be a red flag for paypal since the IRS info wouldn't match paypal's at all?

EINS are only issued to match an SSN number.

Do you know that you can contact the IRS without charge?

They can explain matters.

Sorry your right, that was me being lazy and not using the correct terminology!

They can request docs when they feel like it. This is the general rule.
