My Hermes really is that bad!

I booked My Hermes to collect an item back for me from the Isle of Mull. Everything was arranged, the date, everything, but they simply didn't turn up to collect it!, I queried this obviously. Their reply was that the label for the returning item had 'expired', they only last for 7 days. Why didn't they tell me that when the thing was arranged? Still waiting to get a reply on that one!

I mean, are they seriously thinking that it is ok to arrange everything with me to collect this item back on the arranged date, and then to just not turn up for it. Even their website still shows it as being 'in progress'. I only know it hasn't been collected because I have been emailed by some one who works for them, you couldn't make it up could you!

I love MyHermes. They are cheap, and they get the job done. So long as that is 'all' you expect from them, your a happy bunny.

Some of the downsides...
- their drivers are rude.
- their drivers leave parcels outside
- their drivers are careless
- item sometimes gets lost
- compensation goes AWOL
...

Yes, the list goes on - that's when you will realise they are far from great. BUT, you get what you pay for, and so I tend to send the cheaper products with them, and if it gets lost, I take it on the chin. :)

But sorry to hear about that RosieTosie.

Yes, cheers Play, it has been and unfortunately is continuing to be a real pain in the proverbial.

so because it is expired, does that mean you have to purchase another label?

I think you get a refund. Knowing how incompetent MyHermes are, you would probably have to request the refund via a ticket, and chase them up for the refund.

I had to cancel a few labels (didn't expire), long story short, got a refund roughly 2 months later - once i'd given up.

But an FYI, all labels from a variety of couriers I have come across do expire at some point. Some last only about 48 hours, others a little longer, but the issue with MyHermes is that they don't stipulate the figure anywhere.

But I still have to hand it to them, their prices are the best. Compare it to Royal Mail, and consider sending mass mail daily, it's a no brainer. Their tracking system ain't too shabby either, you can see exactly where all your parcels are, a nice birds eye view. I just wish all of that would reflect in their actual service. :(

Re: My Hermes really is that bad!

Thing here was there are not many delivery companies that will deliver to places like the isle of Mull, that was why I used them really, and the whole thing turned into a real pain in the neck! The buyer still stuck with the item and I am still waiting for it to come back.

Fortunately I still have the message in my account with My Hermes saying that the item was booked to be collected back for me on 21st with no indication at all in that message that the label had expired. So really I should not have have to pay to get it collected again, it is clearly My Hermes fault they did not carry out the collection of the item for me in 21st.

Hehe GB, they are a bumbling company who think they can take our money and just not bother to carry out their end of the deal by collecting the damn item!

A story I have heard before.

My brother hates them with a passion.

Hey play, don't mention Royal Mail either I've got another issue going on with them!, paid to get 24 hour delivery on an item on Tuesday, buyer let me know not recieved and item been returned to Liverpool sorting office when they live in Dudley, West Midlands!, been emailing and phoning yesterday afternoon/this morning. To be fair it is Parcelforce doing the delivery not exactly Royal Mail, anyway turned out the parcel had the wrong postcode on it, that's now been sorted and it will be delivered tomorrow morning, but really, these delivery companies, you couldn't make it up!

I myself am having issues with delivery companies, and to be fair I don't think its all their fault since the surge in demand was way beyond what they ever thought it would be. We have so many couriers who just cannot handle so much mail/parcels. The internet sales industry is booming right now, everyone is loving sitting and ordering from the comfort of their own home.

HOWEVER - They need to do something about it!, If anyone is looking for a new business venture, consider a new courier company! Seriously! It's exactly what we need right now. It will relieve stress from existing companies with too many orders, and service standards should also go up as a result.

Yes you are definately right there Play, our courier companies and Royal Mail are all over the place with getting items collected and delivered sometimes, they have not caught up with the speed that online ordering is moving at.

Older brother does personal delivery on all items over £150 including installing.
Until we close for Christmas, he also does any deliveries. That means the buyers are never worried, and the DSRs are great.

In the last years, he has had calls from "friends" of buyers asking if they could purchase in time for Chrimbo. A hefty surcharge does not deter them.

He checked out running such a business. His thoughts were it was too hard to maintain a high standard. The let down was largely human (drivers) & fleet costs
