Online Bank Account without SSN Requirement

Hello,
I am looking for a saving account in canada which I can open online which does not require ssn.

Thanks

I am assuming that you mean SIN no. if you are Canadian? As far as I know, they all require quite a bit of info. And, to make things more difficult, most will not sign you up unless you mail in a cheque from another existing bank account. Has anyone had any better experiences?

Canada has requirements like the USA, UK & Australia. Real ID is needed. You would also need to ensure what type of account you open (according to tax laws).

Yes, it looks like I can not create an account without an ssn#.

It's an SIN in Canada. Unless you have Indian papers?

Sorry, it actually a sin number. I always get messed up since everyone is always talking about ssn all the time.

It's getting harder to open accounts. I just spent over an hour opening a joint account with my daughter in our local bank....my way of dealing with the Ebay/Paypal name thing.
I thought I had hit the jackpot yesterday when Presidents Choice Mastercard offered me an online bank account ( I have their credit card)
However, when I called they told me I still had to visit their Pavillion at a local shop and bring my ID with me.
They do link with Paypal though and thats good as the Ing a/c I have does not.
SIN is necessary at all Cdn banks. If you are Canadain and open an account in the USA, which I have done too, you need Passport, Drivers L. and even Hydro Bills with your mailing address....after all that, they still will not let me link to their on line banking as I don't have a US Soc. Ins #....and so it goes

Natives have a SIN # too (my kids are half breeds) never heard of Indian papers? They have status card here with their band #'s but they still have to have a SIN to work (off reserve)

I live in Canada and was able to put a netspend CC (from the USA) as a bank account on my Canadian Paypal. I had a friend go apply for one for me in the USA. Than I added it to my paypal as a bank account. I was able to withdraw from my paypal right onto the netspend card. Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but I know it does work. However, netspend does not always work on paypal accounts. It's a hit and miss thing.

BTW: You do not need a SSN or a SIN to apply for the netspend card. You can do so online and have it send to an USA address.

If you already have a bank account with RBC you can apply for other types of account with them online.

I've heard you can open a USA bank account with RBC for Canadian residents.

I have a US account with RBC but I think it is different from having a USA account.
