Question about my old accounts

This is not a solicitation so please don't kill.

I have several accounts from pre-11/07, ranging from 28 to almost 1000 FB, all now resting at 100% for the past 12 months. The lowest FB has never been used to sell. One them had a couple of VeRO listings pulled in early 2008, was suspended for 7 days and then reinstated. None of the others were suspended during that 7 days. Now all accts. have "High" policy compliance in the Seller Dashboard due to the length of time since the last violation.

I am not currently trying to sell any of these, so don't look at me as competition. But for future reference -- Currently they are all linked to each other through the same PP account. Does that mean they will never be of use to anyone besides me?

^^^^^^
That just means when 1 account gets suspended look for the others to lay follow the leader.

Could someone working for Ebay "reactivate" NARUd accounts from more than a year ago and start selling them.. ?There must be thousands of those with great established sellers feedback, people kicked off for no good reason who tried to get back but never could and eventally gave up? Hmmm....just a thought...I don't know what Ebay does with them and what kind of control is implemented over them, or how many people at Ebay have access to those accounts.

Lyda, I would think that would be very dangerous for an eBay employee, and they'd get fired if caught. A much higher penalty than just getting your ebay acct. suspended!

But I will say that when sellers starting running away from eBay after last year's changes, eBay appeared to "forgive" some suspensions in an effort to get some sellers back in action. I know several sellers who didn't try to reinstate their suspended accounts last summer and eBay went ahead and did it for them, inviting them to start listing again. I think this was in September in all cases.

HWGA -- so you're saying that of the accounts being sold here, none have ever been linked to another account that had a listing pulled or got suspended? How far back does eBay keep records to see if an acct. has ever shared anything in common with another acct? I had thought (hoped) that "linked" meant linked currently... not linked ever in history. I mean, inevitably some clean acct. is going to stumble into an IP address that was once used by an unrelated acct. that got suspended. They must draw the line somewhere as far as linkages.

First off I NEVER said 1 single word about ANY account seller on this forum or any account being sold on this forum.
You have placed words in my mouth that I never typed nor would I type them.

You are correct but if I read your opening post correctly you stated that you had several old accounts that were all opened from the same IP address.
Each of those accounts has that IP address attached to it.... forever (as far as I know).
There are several factors that all added together make for a suspended account.
You have already stated that you know 1 of those factors is already linked.

siashay 03-09-2009 07:07 PM

You are correct the accounts are no good to anyone but yourself because they are linked.

Lyda, I always wondered why after beeing suspended they don't erase the account But no it stays on peoples feedback with the big nure'd next to your name.

GreenBean 03-09-2009 07:54 PM

Ebay keeps records from the time of account creation until the world ends or ebay goes belly up. Frankly, I hope it is the latter.;) Dormant accounts sit bored and lonely.:tears:

Siashay:

Yea, but if and when someone in Ebay decides to reinstate the account, maybe even a year or more later, all NARUs would go away with it immediately.... plus, who ever gets that lucky to be "invited" back by Ebay... lol Never heard of such case....so, I am skeptic. They'd probably change user ID in a sec anyway and who would be able to track them..?

JohnnyBeGoode, I agree ...would be probably dangerous, but from what I see, some people are selling them for nice mola, specially those created before 11/07. Hmmmmm... someone must have known something way back to pile up on hundreds pre 11/07 accounts......
Well, people are known to be doing dangerous things these days...Specially if they are greedy or desperate.

GreenBean 03-09-2009 09:41 PM

Lyda, I did. I got x3 accounts re-instated without asking. Couple of other users have had
the same thing happen. In my cases I got messages from ebay. For the others, I know that
they signed into their 'naru'd' accounts and found that they had been re-instated but had no notices.

I apologize for that. It was me continuing a thought process and asking if that's what you meant... and I worded it very poorly.

I wasn't suspended when it happened but I've seen that too, last fall. I think eBay got panicky when so many sellers left last year and was trying everything they could think of to boost listings.
