Get a legal DBA, and when you set up a checking account use the physical street address for the po box as your address. For exmample, say your post office address is 123 Main St, and your box number is 456. Your address would be 123 Main St., Suite 456, Anytown, CA, 12345. For the DBA use a name of a person, e.g. John Smith. Your bank will send statements to your DBA, your legal name, and the post office street address. I know that this has worked with Commerce Bank. Good Luck!

HI Guys:
Even some of the older workers at the post office are not crazy about using this.. They insist u use the p.o. box number.NOT their street address.. Some p.o. do it, most do not like it for some reason, in my area..

mailbox

is it better to use UPS store (for physical address) or a PO BOX (also physical address? i am unclear which one is best

aspkin 03-28-2008 04:08 AM

Both have box numbers... but UPS store is probably better because you can change the address a bit to not look like a PO Box. Ask your UPS lady about this.

By the way eBay apparently doesn't like PO Box address, thus the UPS address workaround. Search the forums for PO Box for more details.

i don't think paypal likes them either. i think that is why i got my first limitation a couple of months ago. especially when you po box is int he next state over from where you are selling.

Thechronicles 03-28-2008 07:24 PM

ok, ebay and paypal dont like people using p.o. boxes because thats how scammers get away, but if you do decide to get a p.o. box instead of writing out the p.o. box address right suite or apt. instead of box
example

(your name)
123 example street
suite/apt.(your box number)
(zip code)(and so on)

hope this helped, goodluck =)

Yep. In the good old days B4 the 'mail sorting machines' were invented and there was a
human doing the mail sorting that letter would have got to its destination.

Why, in the goods old days there was no ebay! ROF.

backdoorman 05-08-2008 06:51 PM

OK have anybody tried "mail forwarding"? they manually sort there in the post office no?

ebay-sucks 05-08-2008 08:55 PM

On tried this on my newest account and the post master told me that this is not the correct address and if any mail comes with xxx xxxx street No. xxx that he will not put it in my box.
He said that the street address is not to be used. I am thinking of not taking any mail orders or checks???

ebayhateluv 05-08-2008 10:44 PM

EBS--You need a new Postmaster....:)

NowWhat 05-08-2008 10:57 PM

Seems to depend on the area. I do it at my PO with no problem

ovidiu 05-09-2008 02:47 AM

I highly recommend using a UPS store or similar instead of the post office. I pay $12 a month at my location, and they advertise it as a real address, not a po box, ie, they encourage you to use 123 any street #123. It is against post office regulations to use the same address format. Modee explained it perfectly. Better yet, I added my "other name" to my UPS store mailbox without any extra charge. I just told them I wanted a friend to receive mail there.
