banned from ebay for conducting outside transactions

eBay Banned

Hi, I was once a top rated seller with a silver powerseller ranking.

Recently I was banned from ebay out of no where after receiving the message "MC999 eBay Indefinite selling restriction" for conducting transactions outside of ebay.

I guess my question is this, what should I do? and is there any possibility of getting unbanned?

Also, would contacting ebay help? would I be able to convince them to unban my account somehow?

Since I'm new to this, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

So did u do transactions outside of eBay?

Re: banned from ebay for conducting outside transactions

Thanks for the replies. I was conducting transactions outside of ebay.

I had to conduct them that way because I was shipping internationally to countries that wasn't covered by ebay.

Essentially this meant that if I went through ebay the buyer could have scammed me with little effort and ebay wouldn't have done anything about it.

Anyways, to answer your question, I was conducting transactions outside of ebay.

What should I do moving forward? Will ebay ever consider unbanning my account's selling privileges?

OP you just answered your own question. Ebay had excuse to ban you. Ebay wants their cut of the $$$ pie. Every seller has to work by their rules or face the firing squad of getting banned. And this is what happened to you.

You could call them and say that you didn't know and say "sorry", maybe they will unban your account. It doesn't hurt to try to get a good account back.

I do not see that happening. eBay do not like people cutting them out of their %.

I would get to work on some stealth accounts

What are you smoking today?

If you have read the forum lately, ebay has been chucking sellers off for doing just this.

They are on a mission to tighten up what they perceive as 'cheats'.

Ironic that.

Better for the OP to change his business practises and learn the way of stealth.

Re: banned from ebay for conducting outside transactions

So based on what i'm hearing, I should just create a stealth account then? Is there no hope to save the account I previously had? If that is the case then i'm fine with it, i just need to know now rather than later. It's unfortunate but oh well. In regards to the poster who said that ebay needed their piece of the $$$, I understand that and have paid thousands in fees in the past. I don't disagree with the fact that they are entitled to their share. I do disagree with the fact that they offer zero protection for sellers in most situations and essentially rip the money out of the seller's account even if the seller is being defrauded. More over I disagree with the fact that ebay practically always sides with the buyer no matter what the circumstances are. I conducted very few transactions outside of ebay, probably less than 2 out of every 50 transactions were conducted outside of ebay. With that said, what's done is done I suppose. Is there any way to get around the SSN requirement for paypal verification?

4% is a pretty high percentage.

Read the forum and you will learn how to operate PP without the need for the SSN

Re: banned from ebay for conducting outside transactions

It's not that high, atleast i never thought it was. I only did that for international transactions since those were the ones where ebay offered virtually no protection.

Stop!!!!!

In the eyes of ebay you made a choice to bypass their system.

Look, this is like speeding.

You put your own foot down on the accelarator. Noone made you.

ebay has a gutful of regulations that at best can be bent, rather than broken.

We say with stealth, there is always a workaround. SSN need not be used for paypal provided the account is created correctly & used well.

I never said that it will fully work, just said he can try. I agree that he needs to change his practices.

Litmus test is very easy:
1. Login and you are greeted with a red text message and/or limits Zeroed in Red
2. Login and get red text and limits not zeroed, you may have a chance of appeal.
3. Try listing and see the message - self-explanatory.

Go Stealth and save yourself some headache and probably sleepless nights.

OP, do you think there was a particular action that flagged your activity, or was it just the communication through the eBay messaging system that raised the flag?

This might be helpful to others in the future.

What you are proposing is a way to pull a fast one and "cheat" eB policy...not a good thing to discuss.

Re: banned from ebay for conducting outside transactions

I agree that the OP should move on and learn stealth. Don't delay in the hopes of getting your account back, because the chances of it happening are very small.

Still, if it were my account, I would try calling them. You have nothing to lose. I would try to sound very innocent (the dumber the better) and sound very sincere with the sorry's.

But Greenie is right, the odds of getting the account back are very small.
