Paypal won't accept a Visa giftcard
 

Purchased a £25 giftcard from a supermarket, and once it was all set up, tried it on PP and a message popped up: 'This card isn't accepted'.

In case anyone makes the same mistake, it was the Visa Red giftcard (the packaging is just red on the outside, with a pic of a white box with a bow on top).

Try adding it from the Wallet page.

Click add card a few times -- sometimes it goes through the 3rd or 4th try with certain cards.

When you registered the card did you add the stealth address or your real address?

Make sure you select it as a credit card as well not gift or debit

Did the super market activate it properly i had one that wasnt activated took it back and they gave me another one

False alert (for now), as the addresses on Visa and stealth didn't match up!

Gonna try again some other time with a fresh card.

Address's always need to match or the card won't add.

The cards work perfectly if done right.

There was funds on the card.

The problem was identified as an AVS issue as the card address did not match the account address.

Sorry, not really sure what you are asking here.

The cards being discussed in this thread, can be purchased from most of the main supermarkets in the UK.

yes, they are on display in the supermarket and you buy them at the checkout.......

Yes that was my question so AVS may be an issue for OP. But I registered a lot of AVS cards with UK address and attach to non-UK paypals and it works perfect.

Two possible reasons for that. Either they weren't AVS cards or the Paypal country they were used on did not request AVS data from the card provider.

Just because a card has an address registered to it does not necessarily mean it is enabled for AVS.

I don't have a huge amount of experience of non-UK Paypal but it is also likely that in countries were AVS is not used (most of the world apart from US, UK, Canada and Australia), Paypal does not request AVS data when adding and confirming the card.
