Using Stripe on eBay UK without PayPal
 

2 of my PayPal accounts recently got limited within a space of 1 month, for 2 seemingly different reasons and so I am considering moving unto Merchant accounts + eBay and ditching PayPal for good.

I have looked on other forum posts about this on ASPKIN and found a good deal of information for those in the US/Canada.

But has anyone in the UK had much success with using Stripe + eBay without Paypal? and Is it even Possible?

(By the way, this is my first post, so I apologise if I am breaking any house rules)

- Suggestions for other merchant accounts for use with eBay UK, would be much welcomed -

You do have to accept payment via PayPal on eBay UK these days.

Only very old accounts are able to list without having to offer PayPal as a check out option.

The ebay accounts I intend to use are about 6 - 7 months old, would these be considered old enough?

Also, what if a note was added to the listing description that only Credit/Debit cards are accepted, whilst keeping a paypal account added to the ebay. Do you think we could by-pass this rule of their's?

No they need to be a lot older than that.

People will not read the note and will just automatically pay via PayPal. Its just habit for everyone on eBay these days.

PayPal is a nessescary for eBay these days

Yes, tbh its true, when I shop on ebay that's often my first instinct (checking out via paypal), but its really how ebay have sold it to their buyers. I'm pretty sure if they were interested in encouraging other forms of payment, the buyers will eventually follow suit.

Ebay seems quite determined to get everyone stuck on their paypal trap.

paypal is a necessary evil u cant avoid it but run paypal properly and its good to use as the protection is good
and if we were allowed to use skrill or neteller or other parties all the scammers would come out of the woodwork like they do on facebook
and milk us

I agree that paypal limitation is very good to genuine sellers actually. It beats your competitors.
