Quick question re listing new items.

Hi all.

So managed to set a new one up ok, as per the guide (PP is linked to my eBay account, etc).

I'm thinking of selling nondescript items like books. Is it ok to list them as new, or is this iffy? Should I only list used for my first listings? Also, how long do you guys wait to sell after setting up a new eBay ac?

Thanks.

Re: Quick question re listing new items.

If they are new, list them as such. No issues doing this.

I wait atleast a week before trying to sell. That's just to make sure there are no immediate issues with the paypal account.

thanks. I've waited a week, and listed my items ok.

Btw, limits are 10/£650. Is this normal? Also, approx how long should I wait to call and try to get an increase?

10/650 is what the majority of new accounts start at.

You can call for an increase right away. Or use live chat. Chances are they will bump it up for you.

Live chat is best !

Right I'll try live chat then. I wasn't sure if calling them is ideal for a brand new ac.

*** Update ***

So after maxing out my limit (10), I called 'em up.

they refused to budge due to being a new ac but I can call again in 30 days. So do I have to wait 30 days, or can I try again sooner? Bear in mind it's a new ac.

Cheers.

Re: Quick question re listing new items.

Different reps will tell you different things.

Assuming your account started with 10/650 limits its possible to get an increase right away. Try again with another rep if you're desperate.

If your account started at 0/0 and was then bumped to 10/650 by adding a bank account, you will have to wait 30 days as you have already have a limit increase according to the system.

Thanks, will try again.

Not sure if it's some kind of coincidence, but I used to have more luck when dealing with the male reps (as opposed to the females). They'd usually be cool about it, and bump up my limits.
