That sounds about right

PayPal don't convert it for free, they charge 1% on top of their FX rates.

NEVER allow PP to get involved in currency exchange - whether payment or bank withdrawal....their rates are despicable

There are no 'problems' using PP to pay suppliers in China at all.

There is a big cost implication, but they benefits can outweigh that cost.

I believe PayPal adds something like a 1% transfer fee to Chinese PayPals. They're currency is low enough with respect to most others', so you should be ok.

They dont in the UK. Bare in mind this is a UK thread.

I pay all my suppliers in China with PP, no additional charge, just the extortionate exchange rates and usual PP fee.

Last I checked, PayPal charged almost 4% extra when compared to the "real" exchange rate. That's why so many people complain about it; were it only 1%, you would not hear about it quite so much.
