UK PayPal account VERIFIED and CONFIRMED

I read some were that here in uk you can't verify a PayPal account with a visa gift card. Even if I select it as a credit card. And I have to verify PayPal with a bank account. Is this correct.

A bank account will verify the account.

A card will confirm it.
