Royal Mail Alternative

hi guys,

Have been using stealth for maybe a year now, and have posted all my items from the post office with royal mail.

now that sales have picked up I would like to cut postage costs as i know i was paying a lot more than i should be but it was just convenient.

i pay £4.40 1st class signed for (to stop scammers)
and 96p upwards for a large letters.

is it true that 2nd class items go just as fast as the 1st class item?

I've checked out my hermes, but delivery is too slow. I'm looking for a 1-2 day delivery service. with also a signed for service to stop scammers from claiming they have not received the item.

all my items are large letters and small parcels.

can anyone recommend anything?

will appreciate any help,
D

Have you looked at Royal Mail PPI and Franking?

Re: Royal Mail Alternative

How much do your items cost?

You could save a fortune sending untracked if they are not expensive.

Re: Royal Mail Alternative

i have contacted royal mail for there business services? waiting for a call back. is that the same as franking and PPI?

does royal mail 24 and 48 fall under that also as i have purchased item from other sellers just to see what service they use to figure out how on earth they are making any profit.

my item tend to cost anything from 50p up to £5.

obviously the 50p items i send untracked, large letter 1st class 96p, I'm sure i can save on this also somehow?

i have an item that i want to sell that costs me £1.50 and i sells for £6. cheapest way to send this sign for is 2nd class £3.90 with royal mail as its dimensions fir into a small parcel category.

just as an example how much would the above cost with royal mail 24/28 or franklin?

thanks

Re: Royal Mail Alternative

You really don't need to send items that cheap signed for. Youre adding an extra £1.10 per item sending as you are.

I can't speak for ppi or franking, I'm sure someone will be along shortly to advise.

I wouldn't bother sending something that costs you £1.50 with a tracked service. Scam rates are only like 5% maybe 10% in high risk catagories on eBay they are not that high.

If something only costs you £1.50 to replace its cheaper to just replace / refund as and when is needed than trying to send everything tracked.

does any one know how much it would cost to send the item with another service.

item is under 100g but falls in the small parcel category.

thanks

I thought the whole point of sending tracked was more to build up trust with Paypal than scams?

That is really something you have to research as only you know the exact dimensions.

It is very unlikely you will find anything cheaper than RM when using PPI or Franking though (they both give you around a 30% saving) that is just as fast.

Re: Royal Mail Alternative

Ha yes, not by the Royal Mail though!

PPI for the Royal Mail stands for Printed Postage Impressions

They are just little bar codes that get scanned when you post mail and the cost of the mail gets added to the RM account which you then pay off at the end of each month.

Its really smooth!

appreciate all the above help.

after some further research i am considering the click and drop business service with the royal mail.

bit confused between click and drop and the PPI without barcode and insurance?

is this ok with multiple stealth accounts?

thanks

I had looked at the Franking machine and its only really worth it if you're sending out plus 100-200 parcels a day, anything less you just wont see the difference
