paypal wouldn't let me add my HSBC to my paypal account.
 

paypal wouldn't let me add my HSBC to my paypal account. I keep getting this "sorry we are unable to ....... at the moment" error. I tried the classic interface, samething. Has anyone else experienced this? any solutions?

Strange, i added my hsbc account but the issue i have is im not getting any confirmation code

Sorry if this sounds silly....but in all instances your HSBC accounts have been open for longer than 24-48hrs BEFORE adding to PP?

Nope, done it straight away but never had an issue getting the confirmation code, usually isntant

A lot if the time it wont show unless the account is open for more than 24 hours in my experience.

It will show just the next day.

As just_smile says, this is my experience as well.

Although the account is technically open its not active for 24hrs (i leave for 48hrs just to be extra cautious). Unfortunately its also my experience that if you get the error when trying to add you have effectively burned that bank account for PP and will need a fresh bank account (be that a current or savings account).

Its not a new account, I have had it for months now. its crazy, any suggestions?

I would just keep trying or call them up, get them to add it over the phone.

You have submitted the DD mandate correct to get the code sent to the HSBC account... sounds stupid but happens a lot.

There does seem to be a lot of issues these day with PayPal in adding a bank account. I personally ended up calling them however the best part was I didn't have to speak to anyone! I went through the automatic voice and the account was added within seconds. So my advice is don't wait for them to fix this glitch, just call them to have it added instantly...

Nice tip.

Sometimes this error occurs when your using banks that recycle their account numbers. In such case its not a glitch, its just that PayPal needs to remove the account number from another PayPal account before letting you add it onto your account.
