How do you pay for orders from China?
 

Guys what are the best options to pay for bulk orders from China when you constantly get declined payment from your banks for security reasons.

Tried with 3 diff bank accounts as well as a credit card this morning but all got declined. This has become a regular occurrences and I am getting really fed up by it.

I am thinking like if there is a UK company that can always handle the payment for me so I don't have to worry about speaking to my bank all the time. Got better things to do.

I use PayPal, and send on average 10k to China per month through various accounts.

I avoid Alipay as they cant underdeclare value in the parcels, but is an advantage as you can use a credit card then pay that off through your bank account.

I prefer to be honest to find a little illegal Chinese girl and Fedex her in a box with the money strapped to her body and a large oxygen tank.

Currently I'm using Western Union and Moneygram. Last year we were using Paypal almost exclusively to send $40-$50k per month. We never had any issues paying supplier invoices of $3-$6k each multiple times per week with Paypal. The only reason we've stopped paying for orders with Paypal this year is because of their fee. We paid ~$24,000 in Paypal fees last year just paying for inventory (approximately twice that amount if you include the fees on payments from our customers).

As long as you trust your supplier, WU/MG is always easiest/cheapest IMO.

Which 3 banks have you tried with and are these standard current or business accounts?

I use a combination of Direct Wire, PayPal, Allipay.

I would expect all banks to decline in the first instance when making a transaction that is in any way linked to China. Its just what they do, no escaping that. As the transactions increase in frequency the need to call in and verify transactions all the time should go down.

What really helps is using a Business account and/ or if your turnover allows getting signed up to one of those exclusive customer deals (such as Santander Select). That way if you do have to call you get through to a human fast and they tend to be far more helpful.

Bank to Bank wire transfer.

Thanks all. I had a chat with Alibaba customer service today and they said I should tell the seller to enabled T/T if it is not currently enabled for the order.

T/T is a wire transfer from your bank to a designated bank account that is provided by Alibaba for the order. The only diff is that it will take 3 to 7 days for the payment to come through, unlike credit card that is processed within 2 to 3 days.

Furthermore, they said my payment is protected with trade assurance (where I see trade assurance icon on the seller's account).

I asked what will happen to my money if the seller closes shop after taken my money and they said I will definitely be refunded as long as it is a trade assurance transaction.

PayPal is also a good way to pay if the seller is one that accepts it but it is unfortunate not all sellers accept PayPal.

Paypal is a best option. I am sending more than $15000 every month from different paypal accounts and its working fine without any problem.

Call your bank when it gets declined. Speak to the fraud department. Ask them to override it. Once done, they'll tell you to try put the transaction through again in a few minutes. It would then go through fine.

Lots of them won't do T/T through Ali. From what I understand Ali T/T makes it impossible for them to under-declare or sell branded goods.

Why not just log into your bank account and tranfer the cash just like you would pay any other bill? It costs us $45.00 in the USA BUT two days later the cash arrives. If you have a relationship with your sellers, most of the time they will send goods with a screenshot of the TT before they receive funds.

I've accepted at least 5 T/T's this year with one being international - it's just not an option paying for our orders. We break up payments to stay under $3k on each so they're shipping early the majority of the time already. I don't know the particular reasons but our guy won't accept bank transfer under any circumstances. They won't accept any form of Alipay for branded stuff, and won't accept T/T at all. I think it's got something to do with the way new(er) businesses are taxed in China because every few months they'll have us change the name we're sending to.

But if you want to transfer or want to pay, the best method is PAYPAL for secure payment process
