Re: removal of contact details

Ebay told me they have been automatically checking private accounts for some time to make sure contact details were not being displayed in listings, but that is clearly not true. In fact my private accounts never received any notifications saying contact details must be removed but all the business accounts did receive warnings about phone numbers etc having to be removed before 1st august.

Apparently even some of the eBay CS staff objected to this new policy but I doubt eBay will change their mind about it. They seem paranoid about sellers doing business outside of eBay Lol.

Business Accounts have to by law state an address, Personal accounts don't and yes contact details are no longer permitted on listings, both personal and business. Business accounts keep their contact section ast the bottom, but eBay are removing email and telephone numbers.

The real funny side to this is , if a buyer asks you your address or contact details, and you reply that they can be found on the foot of the listing, eBays Bots give you a snotty email. do it twice, they put you on a ban. But by law you have to tell a buyer your contact details if you are a business seller. Work that one out.

They sure are paranoid since their quarterly profits dropped.

They would either be displayed at the bottom as they are right now, or moved inside each sellers user profile (similar to how Amazon do it).

With this "additional" step to gain contact details, it may in turn conceal it a little.

But for business sellers, they won't be able to completely remove the all the information as some of it is a mandatory requirement by law to display it.
