UK Customs Taking the Micky???
 

Ok, my first post here. For some reason, all my search queries led me to here for people who are having similar problems.

Basically, I've ordered some genuine car bits from the USA. Nothing in bulk and the box is maybe 40cm x 30cm. Nothing dodgy, all legit genuine parts.

Well anyway, they landed at Stansted Airport on the 28th of August and have been there ever since. I've rang up FedEx numerous times, each time with different answers.

Escalations @ FedEx called me back a few days ago and said that my parcel is stuck on a container / cage / pod with a bunch of other parcels and that whole container / cage / pod is under a random inspection.

Is this even possible?

I know customs do WTF they want, but this is a bit far-fetched and taking the pi55!

Anyone else been in a similar situation? If so how long did they have to wait?

If they said that was the reason, then it is perfectly possible, either it is a random inspection of randomly picked goods, or just a bunch in a row. I think over 2 weeks though is too long a backlog, you should complain....

Holiday season is approaching so they are being extra tight. I just had a package held from china for a week at coventry then released with extra VAT charges (lol)

Yep that does actually make sense and it does happen

So long as all the paperwork is in order and the items have been invoices correctly then it will be fine

It can be a bit of a slow process though! It can take a couple of weeks sometimes.
