PayPal Currency Conversion Charges using Entropay VCC

Hello All

I found some old discussion on this topic and would really appreciate any up to date current position regards this issue. Thanks in advance as I want to avoid messing around with paypal configuration setting that may raise a suspicion in the system.

The Issue:
I have a Entropay VCC setup in my stealth paypal account and have just now realised that there appears to be a weird issue with paypal charging a currency conversion fee on everything I pay for from ebay when using my Entropay VCC in paypal.

Setup Background:
When I created my stealth paypal account is was configured to £ British Pounds Sterling.
When I registered and setup my non-stealth Entropay VCC is was also configured to £ British Pounds Sterling

The Issue, Step-by-Step:
  1. When I pay for £ British Pound Sterling items within the UK using my UK stealth ebay account and my UK stealth paypal account it first appears in Entropay as a € Euro value charge against my Entropay VCC.
  2. The € Euro value entry in Entropay then magically changes into a £ British Pounds Sterling entry once the transaction has completed.
  3. I then notice that the original paypal £ British Pound Sterling invoice value is not the same as the Entropay £ British Pound Sterling value entry. The value in Entropay has been charged at a higher amount by paypal for some unknown reason.

From what I can gather from the old original discussions on this issue is looks as if paypal is charging some kind of commission and handling fee even though it is setup to the same currency as the Entropay VCC, paying for ebay goods that are also in the same currency.

Before I mess around with paypal settings, can anyone please confirm what the current way of resolving this is within paypal as the previous suggestions were from over 5 years ago and things may have changed within paypal since then.

Many thanks to the group in advance.

Entropay cards are issued from europe
when you checkout there should be an option to convert fees with card issuer
there will be no fees using that

Hi Lloyds

I did not know that Entropay cards are issued from Europe - thanks for this.

Can you please confirm where I find this 'checkout' option? Is this 'checkout' option buried somewhere within paypal settings?
