Was this a UK eBay?

What do you think caused it to flag up as its extremely uncommon for eBay to demand ID.

Hmmm, very strange indeed. Have you first confirmed the email is definitely from eBay and was inside your eBay inbox and not personal email account? Looks like a phishing email as eBay don’t ask for ID like that, it’s always been image or scan...

Maybe this could be a business opportunity for someone, start selling disguise kits so people opening new ebay accounts could remain in stealth mode whilst taking the selfie Lol

There are always workarounds to such requests.

That email is a SCAM PHISHING email.

I received a couple on a few accounts in the last 2 days.

ALWAYS check by logging into your EBay account. If the email is not there - it is a scam.

I use Thunderbird for email, and all links within the email take you off EBay.

If you reply to the Phishing email, you are giving hackers access to your account.

I don't believe there's any need for eBay to do this.

But it's very useful for fraudsters

Re: Ebay ask for photo id with selfie

strange because neither ebay nor paypal ask for selfie.

As suggested by the other member's pls log-in to your ebay account to check if, the msg is your ebay inbox before bothering yourself on how to go about the selfie issue

Thanks
