They are fine to use so long as you don't really really abuse it

I never had any problems with them , and I have a fair few. I'm not running huge volume through them though, mainly ad hoc payments

Halifax savers are fine, but your direct debit agreement will be cancelled a few days after.

Which is great of course, who wants PayPal directly debiting your account?

You do not need to submit a Direct Debit mandate, you can skip this prompt and proceed straight to the 4 digit code verification during the process of adding the bank account to PayPal.

A bounced mandate can only negatively affect your standing with PayPal, as it indicates to them that you're using an account that has failed DD instruction.

There is no evidence to suggest that skipping the Direct Debit mandate will have any negative impact on your account, but doing the opposite is common sense that it will not look good.
