Suspended from eBay for linked account 10 Years ago
 

Hey guys,

I've just spent an hour reading up on everything in the forums before posting but dont seem to have found anything.

I've recently been suspended from eBay, which I found out this morning was from some old business accounts I had over 10 years ago. After pleading with them to find some way of sorting this, the decision is final. The 2 accounts it was linked to went under 10 years ago, thats the reason why they wont let me carry on. Alot changes in 10 years right?

The account was linked through my PayPal account as all addresses etc. have all changed in the last 10 years.

My question is, I'm currently running a sole trader business, which i've been doing for over 2 years, mainly selling on my website, Amazon and Etsy, had never bothered with eBay.

So as it seems, I need a whole new PayPal and everything else, but because this is a 'legit' business (I'm not saying anyone elses isn't), would it be a sensible option to register this as a limited company with me as the director (was planning on doing anyway), and then new LTD business bank account and create a whole new PayPal, then eBay? Would this simply just work as long as I use a fresh IP / User Acc on laptop? My address and business address are in no way linked to any other PayPal account?

Thanks in advance for any help and advice, this seems an absolute nightmare for genuine sellers who just want to crack on :)

No need to make it that complicated tbh. Get the stealth guide if you havent already.

For ltd you still need to enter your own details which will link specially PayPal

Will it still link me though even if its all totally new details etc.

See i dont remember ever sending them a copy of my passport around 15 years ago when i opened the account, i might have sent them my driving licence though.

With a new 'limited company' account, I'd be sending them my passport with proof of address from a totally new address.

Its not PayPal i'm suspended from, its eBay, but yeah obviously they are both connected and pass information

Your name and date of birth will link you you can't change these details!
Maybe 15 years a long time might be removed from database

Is it worth giving it a try? Surely there are more than 1 person in the world with the same name and date of birth? :nono:

Name and D.O.B and Location and a few other factors can all combine to give you a high % of being the banned individual

I've just been going over it all today so just let me summaries and hopefully you guys can give me some clearer advice:

Opened my PayPal account around 15/18 years ago.

15 years ago I ran a couple of companies (eBay) and PayPal was linked to these. Approx 10 to 12 years I closed both of these companies after hit bad times (Limited company which went into Liquidation, owed eBay approx £150 which I actually paid off).

About 2 months ago, I created a new eBay account, just for buying bits and bobs on and then the view to selling again on here as I currently sell mass amounts on Amazon and Etsy.

Last week, the dreaded eBay email, your account has been banned. After a phone call to them, it was because it was linked to the accounts from 10+ years ago, and as ALL of my details had changed since then, it can only have been because of the paypal connection.

So where i'm at today, i've now registered a Limited Company and the bank account will follow in the next few days. The registered office is a service address which I pay for and my personal address is in no way connected to either eBay or PayPal as I moved around 8 years ago.

So would it be a 'sensible' option, to wait for the new banking details, close the 'old' PayPal account and then create a totally new one on the off chance that the 2 PayPal accounts wont be linked and then link it to the new eBay account which i'd also create?

Also, I have a totally unsured landline number and just ordered a new smart phone to be able to access PayPal / eBay with a PAYG simcard.

I know some of you will say go down the Stealth account route but I really dont want to simply because I want it all above board and feel a little violated as I've actually done nothing wrong other than try to expand my business onto eBay.

Any help with this would be fantasic

there was no need to create a new ltd company, but since you have already then just make sure there are no linked addresses at companies house, as it is all viewable online.

if the bits and bobs buying ebay was created in a stealth manner then you can use it, if not ditch it and start again. Watch cookies, ip, and all other details. You are probably better off creating a brand new ebay and paypal pair, using stealth rules....

using same name and dob is ok, there are risks but it is still worth a go, using passport and different address, especially given the timescales involved.

closing the old paypal, makes no difference, just ditch it.....

stealth route, can also include real details matched with new ones, like you are planning.....the important thing is not to be linked to prior accounts..........using real name has some advantages anyway...
