I've been using the £1 FVF offer :- MC045:- Your eBay automatic payment request

Every month in the UK , there is a 100 listings offer with usually a maximum £1.00 Final Valuation Fee , which can lead to big savings on fees.

It is for listings started between a couple of day period....so I normally set up a load of listings for 30 days , then edit them over the 30 day period they are active to my listings....often computer parts of say £100 - £300 in value...saving me upto £29.00 on FVF fees when things sell.....nice saving....some months I have saved £1000's

BUT today It came to the automatic payment due date , I got a email to say it looks like my account my of been used without my permission , change of password etc, they have taken some of my listings down (ones that I used with the latest £1.00 FVF offer)

I have re-listed a item , I had to make a new password , go through some keeping my password safe quiz.

MC045

But they say "We're writing to let you know that we have temporarily disabled automatic payment of your invoices to allow us to review your seller account and ensure that the balance due on your account is correct."

I imagine it is going to look pretty simple to them , that I have been trying to by pass paying fees , by setting up 100 dummy listings during the £1.00 offer.

Am I likely to become banned ?

Possible but I don't think it's a guarantee in this case. I think a temporary restriction would be more likely if this is your first offense.

Really though, I don't see what you were doing wrong. You were just taking advantage of eBay promotions, right?

Well , I am setting up kind of 100 blank listings during the offer period for me to alter and amend at a later date , so to some degree I am pretty much doing my best to avoid fees .

The offer is designed for items listed during a certain time period of say two days , so by listing pretty much rubbish obscure listings and then editing them later , I am clearly trying to avoid fees.

Below is a link to the offer , they have terms and conditions to view .

General terms:

Any attempt to manipulate the promotion will lead to automatic exclusion from participation.

Received the same message today. What happened with your account may I ask?

I do this as well ... but not dummy listings, just list loads of items that I have in stock as individual listings that I modify later that week or two. But if those items happen to magically sell before I modify them I have them in stock to dispatch immediately. Is this MC45 something new they are doing to those who deliberately have blank listings saying "more details will be added later" ?
