UK eBay & PaypalGeneral discussions about eBay.co.uk Suspensions and Paypal.co.uk limited accounts. This forum is geared towards UK eBay & Paypal sellers.
From 1st August 2017 eBay started counting turnover of each ebay account and sending e-mails forcing sellers to register for VAT. If seller fail to do it, the account will be blocked in case of selling.
How are you dealing with this issue in case of stealth account? Are you trading below 85k or you have a way how to register for VAT using stealth data to keep selling?
Thanks
The complete step-by-step guide to get back to selling today!

Can you say where this is DEFINITIVELY suggested by eBay? The emails they sent out didnt say this would ACTUALLY happen, merely a suggest that they will.
Yes oppen more stealths etc etc, we all know that. However discussion how to workaround the number option is what is needed.
Like rat under water, anything for survival.
And as this is not as yet a common ocurance to have found a work around, possibly the answer is to add a vat number and change the ebay registered name and address to match. If it's accepted then lower the 12 months sales volume to around 70k and then remove the vat number.
Or leave it, add no vat number and take our chances!

Or provide a VAT exemption certificate - i think this is the best way.
Asking trouble from hmrc to request exemption certificate they will keep eye on you
And eBay may not accept this
In the email they said they may limit account
Seems like they got push from hmrc and they simply doing what HMRC saying don't think they will suspend accounts for this
If this will be the case I am sure over 50% sellers will be banned
I wouldnt be requesting anything from the HMRC, much like you, do request a DL from the DVLA to send to PayPal?
The law changed, so eBay reacted. But yes, lots of sellers will be banned, eBays profits are going to drop because of this, so itll be interesting to see how quickly they handle it.
From what I read today from a few sources, its actually the HMRC that 'push'the eBay department for sellers to be investigated. Ebay proudly commented they had removed 100 sellers - but in all fairness 100 in the Ebay pool is pretty small.
