The Ebay UK VAT Issue
 

I've only seen reports from people trying to list a new item to their already running existing ones which is flagging the 'Require VAT Number blah blah' and being blocked from doing anything from that point on.

It seems to be adding quantities to existing listings isn't causing the flag and block to happen, but adding a new product is. Im basing this on eBay Community forums, word of mouth, my own accounts (I definitely not changing adding a new item)

Can anyone add any weight to whether they have found this to also be the case or not?

i cannot even add any new quantities to existing listings as i get the vat message on screen

i do not have a vat number please help i am using stealth accounts

Are you over the threshold ? if you are then your STEALTH account is toast. If you have a genuine account then it's a simple case of applying for a VAT number to get the account back today. And then if you reduce business ... apply to opt out of VAT at a later date.

Alternatively, leave the account dormant for a year and then contact ebay in a years time saying you stopped this business venture can you unblock the account as you plan on starting a new venture.

Yes all 3 stealth accounts over threshold 85k

Guess I'll just have to open multiple accounts keep them under the threshold and come back to these 3 accounts in a years time

Has this happened to anyone else today?

It's been happening to many accounts over the last few weeks. Check out the ebay community boards. Lots of threads with people in the same situation. HMRC have really spooked ebay and amazon.
