Can Paypal find my name and address??
 

Hello everyone,

In a bad situation and was wondering if I could get some advice. I sold a signed football shirt to a buyer on ebay for £80 about a month ago and sent it by first class signed for post. 2 weeks ago the buyer opened a dispute claiming that they never received it.

I only sell to buyers in the UK but the person who bought the shirt is from Bulgaria and from what I understand know, used a self storage mailbox that had a UK address. I'm guessing he uses a UK storage company and then has it shipped to his address in his country. I tracked the package and it said that it has reached its destination but he is saying that he never received it. I argued with ebay but they refunded him the money anyway and now my stealth Paypal is £84 in red.

There is no way in hell paying Paypal the £84 and wanted to ask if Paypal can find my name and address through my Natwest savings account to get the money back?

Technically they can but to do so would cost far more in legal fees (court orders to get that info) than the amount in question.
Youll lose the account and that will be the end of it.

No, they will not trace you through your bank.

Is he claiming it wasn't delivered to the shipping address or wasn't delivered to him from the forwarders?

If you have proof of postage & tracking showing the signature then you will win an appeal with eBay.

They already sided with him mate :(

He is claiming that it wasn't delivered to him from the forwarders. I have the tracking code (which said it had been delivered to the storage mailbox) but not the actual receipt I got from the Post Office :doh: wish I would have kept it.

Have you called PP up and explained you have tracking? And item shows as delivered?

OK well first off you are only responsible for the delivery to the forwarders. If there is an issue with the delivery between them & your customer that is nothing to do with you.

You can still appeal their decision. Because it's relatively low value the tracking number alone could be sufficient, it's worth a try.

You should really have won this case if you have the tracking number. I would appeal with ebay, you should win if you have the tracking number.

Totally agree. Happened to me sometimes many years ago, no thing happened. I think Paypal as company consider a given % of loose, that involve negative balance account and so on.

They know to be fully exposed offering the dispute service, as the only company do today in the world, they are completely conscious of that.

Don't worry and put the account in the bin.

ebay have refunded me in cases. i actually contacted one of my buyers who did something similar to me, he told me he got the refund and ebay gave me back the refunded money. so it was ebay out of pocket.

I sam currently disputing it but they are asking for the post office receipt which I didn't keep :(

How much was it for? My account is currently £84 in red but I didn't manage to pay my ebay fees which are about £190 :( Not really sure whats going to happen to be honest. I will happily pay the ebay fees if they find my address but there is no way I'm giving them the £84.

I don't even know how the Bulgarian guy was able to buy the shirt... I ticked the boxes which stops people from other countries buying my items but he still managed to do it :mad:

buyer protection is a scam to avoid anyone actually taking responsibility or doing the leg work, ebay and paypal are a disgrace but will never be called to account as they've grown complacent due to market trust/forces which keep em in business, they make a million a minute, long live stealth and may we take a slice back from the dung heap of capitalism and hypocrisy.....(incidentally, I loved ebay till they grew too big for their boots, was a nice place to be back in the day, now it's all procedure and pass the $$$$BUCK£££££)

basslegend, That's not my experience at all. In fact ebay is the only company I know where one can not only talk but also reason with the person that actually makes the decision. Their decisions were, most of the time, fair (meaning they agree with their t&c) and consistent.

Have you tried solving selling problems on amazon? That should give you a sense of perspective.

Paypal are somewhere in between.

That said and given more recent experiences, I might have caught the heydey of ebay support about a year ago. It seems it went back to normal now.
