Ebay PayPal and Banks - How do they link?
 

Hi Guys and Lasses

I wanted to clarify something and ask for the help of the forum.

I wanted to know how Ebay Accounts, PayPal Accounts and Bank Accounts are linked and how they communicate with each other.

From my understanding and please correct me if I am wrong; Your Ebay Account, Bank Account and PayPal account can all be at different addresses?

Is that correct?

What I wnated to know then is, does PayPal and Ebay share personal data?
This would allow Ebay to See your PayPal address and PayPal to see your Ebay address.
If data is shared wouldn't this leed to an account suspension?

The next issue is the link between PayPal and your Bank Account.
Can PayPal see you bank account address?
Can you use an American or EU (non-UK) Bank Account with a UK PayPal Account?

I wanted to know the ins and outs as I have been doing trial and error for months but hitting a few dead ends. Entropay seems pointless for PayPal so I am mining for solutions.

PayPal & your bank do not share data regarding your address.

Only banks with a sort code & account number can be added to a UK account.

As for the cards you are best avoiding entropay. Try your local supermarket and pick up a prepaid visa or mastercard

If you're referring to the bank account then the only time they could see your name is if you top up your account or make a payment with PayPal using your linked bank account.

They will only see the name if you transfer from the bank account to the PayPal

Otherwise all they get to see if the account number and the sort code. They banks will not share anything else with PayPal

Thanks guys for the advise I finally purchased an account from a seller on here.
The only thing I didn't realise is that you cannot bid on ebay with a new account. I got a message saying I could only use buy it now.

Anyway the main aim is to sell so I will wait the recommended 2 weeks to do so.

My concern would be around GDPR and the general sharing of personal data.

I understood (and I'm usually wrong about these things!) that it was now illegal for one company (say PayPal) to share any personal data with another (say, eBay)

Paypay and all the others changed their policy to make sure they get aropund that. The strange thing is they as you to agree to it as if you have a choice or alternative. Google did their's first its a group of companies owned by google the umbrella so if you use google you use all of them.

eBay and PayPal are individual companies. They are no longer under the same umbrella they used to be.
