Some advice with ebay and paypal holding money
 

So, ive sold alot of items last year fine.
i got limited for reaching the threshold and passed the limitation.

So now, almost every sale, either ebay hold it or paypal.
How long does this last for?

i get:

Dear xxxxxxxxxxxx,

You received a payment from the buyer. We've placed the money for this transaction on hold because we believe this transaction may involve a higher than usual risk. Providing no issues arise between you and the buyer, the funds will be released in the evening of 15 Aug 2018.

Here are the details:




and that goes as "pending"

and sometimes get this:

Payment from this sale has been put on hold by eBay.

eBay has requested that the funds from this eBay sale be held temporarily. Money that has been put on hold by eBay will move to your available balance automatically within 21 days.



- Is there a reason its just started happening and how long does it go on for?
The same happened on my other stealth account too now just come out of limitation and restored.

The ebay hold is ebay and not PayPal. PayPal won't release them funds you need to talk to ebay if the funds aren't auto released.

It's a new thing from ebay. Started on my accounts 2 weeks ago.

Same rules that applied to PayPal holds apply for these new ebay holds

Reads funds availability/pending payments section on eBay help pages.

There doesn't seem to be any way to judge when this happens.

It basically means you have lost some trust to Ebay/PP and need to rebuild it.

As long as you keep dispatching on time and with tracking then it will vanish again sooner or later.

High risk items. That's all it is.

Thank the fraudsters that are hijacking accounts selling high value electronics.

Ebay and paypal have had to take these measures as they have been having to dip in to their own accounts to pay victims via the money back guarantee.

With the 21 day hold it is a non issue, the funds were never withdrawn or spent by the fraudster so it can be reversed back to the victim.

Happening more and more often now.

It is now complicated as it is not always clear who can release the funds first.

Paypal or EBay?

From my experience, the emails you receive do not generally give an accurate indication of who you need to speak to.

I always approach Paypal first with a high success rate. If they say go to EBay I do.

I email Paypal and use Live Chat with EBay.

I upload tracking with all my transactions, and always either one of them releases the funds once delivery is confirmed.

Lately ebay have said there is a glitch when releasing funds on the available date, i called them and they told me this so they had to release the funds for me. With the live chat option not there anymore its a real hassle calling them :mad:

Actually Live Chat is still on every account I have tried.

It is knowing where to find it.

Parcel 2 Go have tried a similar tactic.

Hiding that option lowers Employee costs.

Look carefully in the Help & Contact section, be patient and you will find it.

Glad its a glitch and not just me :),had a couple of accounts not releasing funds until a a day after the available date and another was 7 days late!!

Last few have been fine so hopefully the glitch was sorted.

If you want live chat just log in through ebay.ie , chat is readily available.
