Hi,

Apparently it is okay to use a different name on the direct debit sign up. In the majority of cases the bank won't question it. I've read a lot about this on here and clearly it must be okay to do - how else can people create stealth accounts??

Good luck.

Yes it does matter .

The bank will not authorise the setup process with paypal because the bank cross refernece the details you have on file at the bank with those you are using with paypal .

This is just another one of paypal's little extra security processes, Paypal basically force you to enter your corrrect address at the point where you add your banking information , if you add a different address to the one listed with your bank it may get rejected.

GreenBean 07-16-2009 09:04 PM

^^^crazed, Which bank do you know that does this? Please advise us.

To the OP, in most cases the difference in names & addresses is not a problem. But there are reports of trouble. Which bank are you thinking of using? If you like, pm me with the info:peace:

I think you are referring to the direct debit mandate that gets filled out. The address you put on there is the bank where you hold your account - not the address information of the account holder.

If what you claim is correct then it would be physically impossible for anyone to hold stealth ebay and paypal accounts.

GreenBean 07-17-2009 02:43 AM

^^^Is correct. Let's see what info crazed_ebayer gives the forum. Bottom line we need to confirm this :peace:

Ok, same address for bank, but what about different name when setting up direct debit with paypal? will it still go through?

As already said, most banks won't bother to check. If it does get rejected, open another bank account and try again.;)

crazed_ebayer 07-23-2009 10:44 PM

Yes , most banks won't bother checking.
I phoned my bank and asked why it had been rejected .
The Indian call operator mummbled something about their being a link between barclays and paypal to cross reference information.

Note , this is only for paypal - nothing else !!!!!

sugarlaces 07-24-2009 04:23 AM

Update: my micro deposits came through and now verified. I have clicked withdraw to bank so will update if it reaches. Previosuly i tried barclays too and they do cross reference with paypal so that is one to avoid. I received a letter with the name and address of paypal account holder. I think it vaires certain banks have different critieria for checking.

crazed_ebayer 07-24-2009 09:33 AM

I would'nt be surprised if Barclays and ebay had come up with a mutual agreement for the cross referencing of information .

Allthough paypal can't see your personal info they can detect if it is the same as is on your barclay card account .

Typical invasive and controlling move by Paypal.
You know what paypal are like , allways lookingto make paypal 'safer'.
Obviously a tactic deployed to combat fraud and the like .
Another big brother move from Paypal , what next ?

oompaloompa 07-24-2009 11:25 AM

barclays - thanks SL, one to avoid..

Penya 07-24-2009 11:53 AM
