Bought an eBay account from a friend but need to change some details ? any risk?
 

Bought an private ebay account (not business) from a friend , gave him £35 for it....good seller limits , good feedback...

Of course he does not want to be charged for seller fees I incur from selling.

Will changing the automated payment paypal address cause any issues or red flags from ebay ?

Will changing a mobile number for SMS verification cause any red flags?

What do I need to do, to set it so that I get the option to have an email verification instead of Mobile number only verification ?

I have read that changing for example the first name and surname and address can cause a red flag issue, is that best left alone ?

I would prepay the fees with a card if you can. Changing pp account attached may or not affect the eb account - a lot depends on activity and what you sell. Going too fast on selling can create an issue, for example. This isn't great stealth.

Mobile number is low likelihood of causing red flad.

Changing name is a huge security flag though in general...

You can change surname on eBay, usually people do when they get married.

A lot of things you cant change, i.e. first name as account can become limited, and eBay may start demanding you send in ID etc.

Starting from scratch would of been the best thing to do. That's just my stance though.

I might start a new account as well, see how that goes.

Only thing with my friends account is the twenty thousand monthly limit and 200 items, which is ideal for me, as I mostly sell used pc parts.

I have had issues in the past when going from a buying only account to selling account, I seem to get associated with another friend's who was banned around 2 years ago due to not replying to resolution cases...

But I think that was because of a PayPal account association that trigger that..

You can buy accounts from the forum (from verified sellers that is), with that kind of limit.

I'd keep buying and selling accounts separated.

I changed my name on 3 stealth accounts last year and had no promblems.

They dont always limit account and ask for ID, but it does happen. I wouldn't risk it with such an aged account like this.

Also bear in mind, this is a UK query, so things might be a little different for US accounts.

I changed the registration details too(Inc name) Most I got was phone verification

Thank you all for your replies, I am guessing that the only thing that cannot be changed is the date of birth on the account ?!?!?

Or does eBay not ask for a date of birth when opening an account....for some reason I cannot remember if they do ??!?!

Here's a basic rule, do not change any personal info.
It'll trigger a flag.

They do ask for DoB.

If you need to change something, do it gradually such as the banking info or phone number.

It depends when they signed up to eBay. They didn't used to ask.
