That would be cool, but I've never seen any.

They might help you over on the Royal Mail unofficial forums https://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/home.php

Had a browse but didn't register...
My questions are around the rules of size, sorting, behaviours, leniency etc.
Thanks though, appreciated

I worked in processing and delivery a few years ago. What specifically would you like to know? I'll answer if I can.

What's the deal with sorting large letters?
How lenient is RM if the package is over 25mm in thickness.
I can't work this out. From what I can tell its hit and miss.
On some days I get charged for a small parcel (via a surcharge) and on others I don't.
Any tips appreciated.
My packages are about 28/30mm in thickness.
If I use franking My postal account get charged.
If I use stamps customer pays the surcharge at local sorting office, which I then refund when they get in touch.
Thanks

Re: Any of our members work for Royal Mail?

There's no such thing as lenient.

If RP (revenue protection) pick it up you'll get the surcharge.

They will pick up on similar packets...so they'll know what to look out for.

It depends on how many staff they have on RP as to how much gets checked. That'll explain why your not always hit. In a mail centre with 250 processing staff they may only have 4 on RP one evening and the next 10.

Problem you'll have too many under declares will get your franking account closed.

Try to pay legit amount.

Paying the lgeit amount although I would love to, I've got no issues with it otherwise. If I did, and it'll be only doing it would price me out of the competition and the same wouldn't come in.
Hence why I always risk it.
My competitors are doing the same so it's a risk us sellers are willing to take.
Do they hunt spefically for franked mail vs stamps?
Do they know what postage sacks come from post boxes, RM vans, or post office?
Thanks for the info I appreciate the insight.
(and yes I'm reducing the risk by looking for alternative products to sell)

Re: Any of our members work for Royal Mail?

The cost for posting an item over 25mm jumps from 79p (2nd class large letter up to 100g) to £2.95 as it would fall into the small parcel, big difference!!
I had similar issue for some time in the past and the way i got around it was by asking the post office to cancel the stamps because some of the customers had being re-using the stamps when they received them,
It worked for me but if your items are nearer to 30mm then the post office could pick up on it
The only way you will know if that works is by trying it,
