Just moved house - IP address

Afternoon all

I bought the stealth ebook several years ago and have been operating several accounts under the radar sucsessfully since. Again massive thanks to the forum.

I used to reset my IP by turning the router on/off, this always gave good results

I have moved house and wish to continue as before. It seems that I now have a static IP

What is the best and most cost effective way to obtain fresh IP addresses? What are others doing?

Cheers

A dongle is best if you're in the UK.

I am a bit of a novice with this sort of thing. A VPN allows you to manually change an IP address, or is the IP dynamic? Thanks

Re: Just moved house - IP address

Thanks for the reply.

So the same IP is used but the VPN hides this from eb/pp? Do you have to reset/change anything or just flip between the different windows user accounts that I currently use?

Which package of 24vc are people using? Is it okay for UK based sellers?

Thanks for your patience

Re: Just moved house - IP address

The VPNs mentioned work fine for the UK. You need to choose the fresh plan.

In your original post you asked for the most cost effective way, that is still the dongle I mentioned earlier which you seem to have overlooked.

Re: Just moved house - IP address

Thanks both for the reply. So say I was running 20 accounts....would a VPN give a dedicated IP to each account, or would a different package need to be bought for each user account ie 20 purchases?

Same with a dongle - Would one being (reset) if that is a thing give differing IPs, or would I need 20 of the things? What are others using here?

Thanks again

Re: Just moved house - IP address

You would run one vpn per account. So 20 x Fresh package.

For a dongle you can just use one dongle as the Ip is dynamic. Hence its a much cheaper option.

Its just my opinion but I would only use a vpn if operating an account from a different country.

Re: Just moved house - IP address

Thanks - that has clarified things a lot. I dont make a fortune doing this so 20 lots of packages wouldnt be cost effective for me

The next issue that I have - I live in an area with VERY poor mobile signal. I assume a dongle gets its connection the same way a mobile connects?

Cheers

It does. That will be a big problem.

I will have to check the coverage of various companies. Are there any to avoid or are all good? Cheers

Re: Just moved house - IP address

Sounds like you should just find one which gives the best service.

I've used 3, Voda, o2 and they all work fine.

Re: Just moved house - IP address

Thanks again. I have contacted the internet provider because this really should be a dynamic IP. They have stated that this will be the case from tomorrow - I will update tomorrow, as it has only just been installed so will be static for 24hours. Sounds a bit far fetched to me. I really hope that this is the case as simply restarting the router is tried and tested here. I will keep you updated

Re: Just moved house - IP address

when i switched to fibre i seemed to have a static ip but after calling them i get a fresh ip but i have to turn router off for at least 7 minutes to get a new one. Bit of a bummer as i used to press reset switch and was instant change.

My previous house I used to get a new IP address instantly when restarting my router, my current house i'd need to turn it off for 5 minutes or more, worth trying..

Re: Just moved house - IP address

if you guys have switched to fibre from standard "tinternet" then you will experience a sticky ip address, as less people are on fibre the chances of dropping and picking up a fresh ip address are reduced can take around 7 to 10 minutes dependant on region

Re: Just moved house - IP address

Great replies. Its a big bummer being stuck with the same IP. 7-10 mins is far too long. Mine is definately static, left the router off overnight, but still the same address. Also the customer service gave me some BS about the IP staying static for 14 days before going dynamic.

Anyhow I have cancelled the fibre broadband and am going to go another route. Im going to tether from my mobile, just a restart of the phone should generate a new IP. Three do a deal with unlimited data, going to give it a go. £20 a month with unlimited phone, internet, seems a great price! Anyone else gone with this?

The only possible issue is the signal situation. As per another thread I posted, with three I get 1 bar in the office, but as much as 3 bars elsewhere in the property. If the current sutuation isnt fast enough, I will look at a mobile signal booster. Looking forward to getting up and running in my new home!

Re: Just moved house - IP address

On other consideration - the phone does not have the eb/pp apps. However it has the outlook app, which brings emails in from my main purchasing account which is blocked for selling. Is there any chance of any kind of link here?
