Dispute from closed paypal account
 

I have an ebay account in good standing, sold item 3 weeks ago for £12 and posted it without tracking.

Buyer filed an INR today. In theory I would just refund but I already withdrew the funds into bank, unlinked the bank account and closed the paypal account. The paypal account had non-existent registration details, but I also used it to buy on ebay and had those items delivered to a variation of my real name / address.

I am unable to refund because the paypal is closed, so what is going to happen when the buyer escalates to ebay?

I suppose one option is to pay the buyer back manually and hope he is not a scammer (or a double scammer, if he actually received the item and is lying) and will close the case?



I was planning to give up this ebay account anyway because it is linked to restricted accounts (but has been working for past 2 years for unknown reason), and I am moving house soon so can start over with new set of details, so not too worried.

Just refund him manually, put a screenshot of the payment in to the case and that will be the end of it. Hardly worth anyones trouble chasing you for £12.
