US eBay, UK Paypal

I have just bought a US seller's account and don't have Paypal for it yet, does anyone have advice on what to do about Paypal? I'm not sure how to set up the Paypal account so that I can actually use it.

R u from the UK?

If so your best bet would be to set up a UK ebay account and link it to a matching UK Paypal account, using the stealth guide if this is new to you.

Yes, I'm from the UK but the eBay account is US.

Has it got high feedback or significant age? If not in my opinion it is worthless and you would be better setting up a UK ebay and paypal account and building yourself up with them.

It is easy and quick enough to do.... especially if you have the stealth book.

I know of no easy or cheap solution to what you are asking but maybe others will.

It doesn't have any feedback it's a brand new account. I only just bought it so I'm hoping there is a way around it. I've been trying to set up a uk account for a few weeks to no avail because I had Stealth but my computer decided to wipe everything clean and I have no idea what e-mail address I bought it with so I'm going to have to buy another copy.

Well you can buy a US verified Paypal account.

You can even get one with a working bank account and matching debit card, but for a price.

The main problem is you will need to use a VPN service for the US IP, which isn't recommended by many on these forums. You will also likley need to get a US phone number (online).

And when you get limited you need to think about how you are going to verify your ID with docs, provide a SSN etc. etc.

Have to agree with the Captain.

You would be better off spending your money on the stealth book. Unless you have the stealth book and a lot of experience you are going to struggle setting up and more importantly keeping this arrangement.

you should have thought of the bank/paypal issue before you bought account. To have a US paypal it is best to be an American! especially when it comes to bank accounts, the ones you buy are expensive, vunerable and if the account goes down you need another..stick to uk. How about you sell on auctiva from UK and change country to USA on it so at a glance it seems you are based there, then charge fair US postage and build it in to your margins...

3rdRockFromTheSun 08-17-2009 02:43 PM

Hi, do you mean sell on auctiva with a UK Paypal account? Would it be safe to send the money from a US Paypal to a UK one if it's been previously linked or do I need to set up an entirely new uk one?

captainjack1980 08-17-2009 03:02 PM

No I think the assumption is you want a US Ebay account to sell on .com

This is unnescessary as you can list directly on .com (or any Ebay site) with a UK account just as if you were in the US (or wherever).

No, the point I was making was that on auctiva you can change your country to show goods are in USA.
(though it will still say registered in UK at top), doing it on auctiva seems a safer way to do it for me than changing your settings on ebay, it may draw their attention to you IMO..but its just a suggestion, if not go for just listing directly...
