Top Seller Status - New Dedecution Option For Damaged Returns
 

As per the last newsletter, sellers with Top Seller Status can now offer up to 50% reduction on damaged items returned from buyers.

This is a poitive move from eBay, as I for one get a fair amount of buyer 'wear it and then send it back' fraud, however as I feared it was implimented in a typical cackhanded manner.

I initiated my first 50% reduction last week when a sweater I sold came back with deodrant stains and a cigarette burn. I uploaded photos to the return console, gave justification in the notes box and the process worked, the case was closed at this point with a 50% refund.

However, the buyer obviously went on to eBay to complain that evening, and the case was then overturned and it was then initiated them to 'return it for a refund of the remaining amount' (the item had already been returned though).

The next morning I went on to chat and discussed, and the operator said there had been a mistake by the previous operator and that the case is now closed in my favour. I asked if the buyer had been refunded out of their pocket, and although he said he couldnt comment on the funding source, he said the buyer had been refunded.

So a few questions/things to discuss!

How long is this going to last if eBay are refunding the excess themselves? This could amount to millions over time.

What happens if a buyer then leaves negative feedback over this transaction?

Anyone any personal experience using this system?

My fear is, over usage may result in issues.

I got several items returned from buyers with damages, what i do: i go to ebay live chat and providing pictures, they do refund all amount. For me it works all the time, also they do remove negative feedback or defects.

Couple of questions;

Is it a business account?
How do you proide photos on live chat?

Are you referring to the new refund console as per the original post?

I know you can sometimes get ebay to do the right thing if you contact them, I have a 50% success rate with that , but I am more referring to the new refund console and its process.

I do provide pictures to return case, than i contact ebay live chat, explaining situation, they do close case without refund to the buyer, i got 100% success each time. Its actually works with personal and business account.

So you enter the pictures, notes, choose the deduction, hit the enter button, and then go on Live Chat?

Have you seen what happens by not going onto Chat afterwards and leaving the process to deal with itself?

How do you get the refund console with a personal account? its for TRS sellers only.

Its only for top rated sellers i beleive business aswell and only works when buyer open return as does not require anymore or change their mind then u are allowed upto 50% depends on return condition

If buyer open return as item not as described then u cant

Its automatic system

Yes I think the other poster didn't quite get what I was talking about.

Good to know it wont work for IND's - typical eBay, theres always a catch.

Still want to hear anyone experienced in how they deal with these when you do reduce the refund and if the buyer leaves a neg because of it.
