Does VOIP still work for verification
 

I am sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but having read through all the posts I am now confused as to the use of a voip phone. The latest I have read on the UK forum says Voip is OK but I have seen somewhere that voip no longer works in the UK. Which is correct?

I have a BT home hub which provides a seperate VOIP number with of course the correct area code. Am I safe to use this?

I am not in the UK, so my suggestion applies in a general sense. My advice is to never give Paypal or eBay a telephone number that reaches direct to a phone unless that phone is disposable.

Try to find an affordable solution that has a phone number which can be forwarded to a permanent phone wherever you like to receive your calls.

Part of the problems mentioned with voip in t'other threads came down to user fault and not 'equipment' failure. Some people don't read the 'How to Use' book ;)

Two different points of view, one from the US and one from Aus.
As I am using a ****address it's important that the phone verification works.

I could do with a UK perspective.

I answered based on using x3 different VOIP services in the UK.
Your service would appear to be the BT Twin talk with the two dongles with the second number having a different ring tone? If so, it works as you asked.
If you still have doubts, look at using UK VoIP Internet Phone Service - VoIP PBX Switchboard and Telephony services There rates are very reasonable & the number can match your address well.

Thanks for that. I've checked out the Voip service you suggested along with ringcentral and soho66.co.uk. They all look good. However none of them offer my local dialing code. They do offer codes for cities 12 - 20 miles away. Would they be okay?

I guess if that is a concern for you go with BT: I have used codes within 20 miles
of the actual address as have others here. :peace:

I use voip myself. It works for ebay and paypal, if it does not work, it means that you did not set it up properly. I use my voip number on a softphone application.
