New seller limit applied to 10 year account! This normal?

Non-stealth account and recently had selling privileges removed (MC011) due to 'routine verification' check. eBay ended all my listings and I had to provide documents, invoices etc. After a week finally managed to get reinstated, however when I tried to list again I was advised I have reached my selling limits?!

Looking at the selling hub there is now a new 'Monthly limits' widget that has never been there before. Worst still is the fact that my limit is 200 listings, which is ridiculous and no where near amount needed for what I sell/list.

Called eBay to raised limits and women said she tried but system wouldn't allow her to. She said she can see that the limits were placed by Trust and Safety team during the verification checks so would need to message them to resolve issue.

This has been a constantly active account since it was created so has plenty of sales history. Question is then, have you seen this before where a 10+ year account have had selling limits applied, and for those limits to be so low? I thought selling limits only applied to new sellers? Perhaps I did always have limits (all be it invisible to me), but those limits were always very high perhaps?

I literally had no limit before, at least none that I could see or they were extremely high. The monthly limit widget just didn't exist. What I sell is not the issue otherwise they would have not reinstated my account. Items are low value, no more than £20/$25.

Is there anyone else that had old account (10 years or so) that had limited introduced on their account? I thought old accounts didn't suffer from this?

may be ask someone on Paypal forum,Paypal reps are there !
Could it be common items everyone is selling?
are they free listings?

back in 2012 My mega account ran into a problem and dipped below standard when return requests were deemed a defect. Long story short my limits where reduced to 2800 items a month and $180,000 It was devastating buy each month I was allowed at 30% increase. A year later i was back to selling a couple hundred thousand dollars a month. It was a painful process and I wish I knew stealth existed.

My suggestion is to email Trust and Safety and ask them what you need to do to get back on track AND make new accounts!!

Literally didn't have any limits before, old accounts didn't have limits, either that or limits were EXTREMELY high.

PayPal reps are on this forum?! Interesting. Are they actually helpful or here on reconnaissance? Any eBay reps on forum too?

Thanks yankee, this was going to be my very next question re getting back to 'normal', so good to hear about the 30% increase each month! I did message Trust and Safety again and they increased limited to 1000 (big whoop!). Protested but they wasn't haven't none of it and said I can request increase again in 60 days! I don't know why it's 60 days when even new sellers can request increase every 30 days?!

2012... oh man I remember that period of culling when you'd sneeze and eBay would deem it a defect and ban you! Crazy times!

I grew very tired of the cat and mouse game and so decided to not play no more and to persist with and keep non stealth account going as long as possible. There have of course been several 'restrictions' along the way, but miraculously managed to get reinstated each time. Always seem to happen right before Christmas too, so I call it my Christmas jinx!!

Few years back eBay closed account on Christmas Eve! That was a horrible Christmas and New Years and at that time eBay was my sole income! Lesson learnt very quickly and was a blessing in disguise as forced me to grab hold of all those eggs in that one basket, and scatter them everywhere as if it was an Easter egg hunt! This has paid much dividends and if eBay didn't close account, then I probably would have still thought eBay was the be all and end all!

Rough lesson learned but nice that your bounced back. Happy holidays indeed.
