Should we use a 3rd party Router ?

Hi there,
In the book it says if we want to use home broadband then we have to use 3rd party router instead of the one provided by the Internet Service Provider and have to change the modem's MAC address as well.
Is this practice still ongoing ?
Do we still have to change the MAC address ?
Or we can simply use the router provided by the ISP and restart it to get new IP address ?
Thanks in advance

As long as you're able to change your IP, there's no need to do anything else.

If you plan on having more than one account, have a look in to dongles.

I'm planning to use 4G Mobile tethering. Is that fine as well ?

Yep that will be fine. Some networks don't give a large range of ip's which can be an issue if you have lots of accounts. Just check the ip and record it everytime you login to an account.

Nice idea - follow jusT_smile's advice on tracking IP

New IP address will suffice.

Ignore Mac address, that's not necessary. :thumb:

here is a cheep way to do this i own 15 routers all brand name and non brand name go to your second hand shops i always find really good ones for a cheep price. no more then 10.00 if you are on W10 or W7 and you don't have the drivers or cant find them most of the time they will work in auto mode. then you need to do this for ex. get the linksys default gateway the number is 192.168. 1.1 put this number into the url then it will ask for a user name and password most of the time it is admin password or admin admin if you dont now look it up. if you cant get the password to work then do a hard reset get a pin and hit the little button on the back of the router . then try again if you get banned with this router just put them in the bin. or change the mac

All this is not necessary. This makes stealth sound complicated when in fact it isn't.

So the same MAC address is okay with stealth accounts, just reset the router, get the new IP and you are good to go ?
