Ebay are now alerted when you change the Paypal email address on lisitings, it's a response to fraud where people would compromise an Ebay account, add a Paypal email address on a listing that is almost the same as the original one, then syphon off funds for a long period of time
I noticed on at least one account that I changed emails that i'm getting zero sales

This may just be on Ebay UK, or on other sites too |

how do they hack into your Ebay account to make changes to your listings? | they edit the listing and change payment address for receiving payments to a similar address like changing the "l" to "1"
Been happening for years and still continues,
eg. say if your pp address was agent006140@whatever.com
hacker would change it to agentO06140@whatever.com
they would select medium - high val item that only sells low volume to the other listings, then you will never know
the hacker is getting paid daily for doing nothing |

the hacker is getting paid daily for doing nothing | first they have to be able to get into your Ebay account to change the Paypal email address.
second, you are not getting a confirmation from Paypal that your buyer has paid you.
Some sellers print shipping labels on Paypal, not Ebay,if you do so,then you will find out you did not get any payment.
They can also send you ⊗⊗⊗⊗ Paypal email that you have been paid ! |

This may just be on Ebay UK, or on other sites too | Recycling eBay accounts and re-using them with a new PayPal is never recommended as a long term solution anyway. So it's not that big a deal. |

who is to blame?
if a seller allows someone to hack into his account and siphon off his fund for a long period without even knowing it?
what did he do,just keep printing shipping labels and mail the item without seeing a dime? |
| CaptainComedown | 01-19-2020 06:03 AM | Re: Changing Paypal email address in EBay in all fairness, if someone did it to me I might take a while to notice. I sell quite a high volume of items so if the money for 1 or 2 listings wasn't making it to my account I probably wouldn't see it right away.
Last August one of my paypal accounts was compromised, and it took me 3 weeks to notice that almost 3k was missing from my balance. The dirty scumbag had "archived" his purchase transactions so they didn't appear in the activity log, and I had no idea where the money had gone until I phoned Paypal and they looked into it.
Fortunately the guy had bought a bunch of Iphones and other obvious high risk items to the same address in Manchester (no doubt a drophouse) so Paypal took less than 24hours to re-imburse me! |
| CaptainComedown | 01-19-2020 06:04 AM | Re: Changing Paypal email address in EBay on a sidenote, it is always a bad idea to change the payment email on your listings. Any suspicious changes can be picked up on, and it just makes your account look even more risky should an Ebay slave ever manually assess it. |

This may just be on Ebay UK, or on other sites too | It appears that you misunderstood the article. All it says is that the seller would be notified if the Paypal address was changed on a listing, not that eBay would be notified.
In my experience, changing the PayPal on a listing will make the listing invisible for the next 36 hours. It didn't used to be this way. |
