PayPal did this legally or not?
 

I have some stealth ebay & paypal under running.
yesterday, one PP account been limited, funds on hold.
regards this PP, no disputes from set up till now, regular funds pay in by linked ebay business account.
that's odd. therefore we called PP, generally, they asked some basic info, like name/address/DOB, plaplapla....... they never required any documents neither.
suddenly, PP staff said he will ask 3 questions picked up from national security center! never met this before, let them go ahead politely. then nightmares coming......
Q1 - how old is your youngest sister on year 2022!
Q2 - please give your mother's first name!
Q3 - please give the approx remaining amounts of you car finance!
I just want to konw is it anybody got similar position recently? PP asked 2 much private info, is it legally?
of course, we failed all of answers, have to say goodbye to funds :s:s:s

Did you accidentally make up stealth details that possibly match a real person living at that address ?

Paypal probably have access to the electoral roll plus other credit agencies to be asking questions like that !

If that is what they have implemented for 2020 then no matter what ID you provide if it's checked against some sort of database nobody is passing any doc check.

as noticed in post, this it stealth PP.
we have owner's basic info, even photo ID.
but we do not know any further private life details at all.
is it PP legally to use so much private information???

That's the thing. This persons details you are using exists. So these questions tell me paypal are now using a database to ask security questions. A bit like a bank would ?

If it’s a stealth PayPal account then you shouldn’t be using real details

Clearly they just caught you here....

Whoever’s details it is that you have use I would suggest asking them for these details (I assume you have their permission....) and then Withdrawing the funds

Stealth you say but have owner's photo ID - it's not really stealth then. You have permission to use the owner's ID?

you can always ask the person involved these details unless of course u created account and have their id without them knowing???

not that much bizzare..i've never used ANY security questions with the same answers - even worse - never USED any to match in any case scenario. SAFE & SIMPLE

If you have permission from the entity to use his details than simply ask him for it and give them what they want. I personally, never heard on such questions coming from PP

For future reference, when you verify that they will ask you questions you can't answer, try to determine this ahead of time, get the person on the line BEFORE you call, then call in. When you're asked the questions, have the owner text you the answers so you can relay the correct info.

Or...you could just have them get on the phone for you and pay them like 25 bucks or something everytime you feel something serious is going on with the account (pay them for their time...who doesn't want to make 25 bucks for 10-15 minutes of work)
