Stealth account and buyers
 

Am i right in thinking that having a stealth account only works for those wanting to sell, as if I was to buy I would need to put my real address as I would want the item delivered to me.

no, you can buy as long as you ask first before bidding whether it can go to another address, and if ok, privately email seller the real address. Not saying they dont mess up sometimes..

Buyers can have stealth account. Choice is either as oompappa said or
a variation of your name & address, altered so that the ebay bots will not pick it up but Royal Mail ( if they get over the strike) deliver.

I prefer not to use my 'old' details & make other arrangements. Choice is yours :peace:

Any idea why my girlfriends account has not be banned and she lives at the same address?

does she use the same pc as you? her account is at risk, but maybe not having same name details as you has helped her, we have forumers that have shared premises and beein all suspended. Do not count your chickens too soon though, it may happen at some point....

Depends on your IP to a certain extent. dsl & there may be linkage,. Dial-up not as much chance. What do you use?

Lastly, if the girl-friend's account is not under any 'flags, it may stay up: to counter-balance that, are you using ebay at this address?

Let me explain, My orig account was for my old address, but when ebay told me that they would not be reinstating my account I decided to make a new account with new address and they caught onto that and banned that, but my gf is at the same new address and is fine, and we both use the same computer.

'Computer' is part of the scenario. How do you access t'internet? That helps to work out what might be going on with the two accounts.

yes as GB said it does matter if you shared ip at all.

when did your original account get banned, how long ago?
when did you move and your gf register her ebay account?

We both use the same laptop, on the same wireless connection, Origonal account got suspended last Septemeber, ebay said it was suspended for 1 year, so i emailed them a couple of weeks a go to check what date it would be reinstated, but then went to live help and asked them, they said it would be reinstated on the 24th september but the I got the reply to the email I sent asking and they said after looking they have decided it wont be reinstated.

My gf registered her new account about 6 months a go and I made one 1 week a go with the same addres but it got flagged and suspended, and we have even used my gf's account at this address, it was a different paypal and the hers was completely in her name.

What was the actual suspension notice for your account? If you are wondering why the questions, I am trying to work out what is going on.
'Flagged & suspended' covers many many things.

First account was suspended for selling a PSP that eight weeks before I bought on ebay! and obviosuly they suspended the new account as they said that it had been associated with my old one.

Specifically what was the MC notice....in the creation of this 2nd account
did you use any of the same info that was on the suspended account? Had you listed anything?

With the new account, I used the same paypal account for my old ebay, although made a new email for it first and used that to link it to my ebay account, I dont want to sell anything on ebay, I just want to be able to buy, With the new account I did buy something and lucking got it.

The use of that old paypal even with the change of email address caused the suspension: soon as 'your' transaction hit paypal, it triggered flags.
When the account got 'checked', the linking payal did it.

So now, you want to be just a buyer? I would suggest a new account with a new address.... but I am sure you do not want to do that ;)

still did not answer the question as to why my gf's account is safe when she is at the same address? it is ok to say you don't know, I think that when I do move I will create a new account with a pre-paid CC and the new address and a new paypal.

OK: an observation and not a statement of fact: besides it's ebay & they change the variables.
You have x2 IPs on records here. If the gf has used her account at a different time, the IP that ebay detected will be one or other of them.
So if it is the IP not used on your suspended account, then the ebay bots have not linked her: if her account is going OK with each & every detail different, she may continue to be fine.
It is not a guarantee. It may be her luck with ebay today. What happens tomorrow, I know not. :peace:
