PP new user agreements affects seller

Hello sellers
Just to share an update from PP, some of you might not be aware off

In past when you refund to buyer, pp use to return the fees you had paid to them on the time of sale (I believe 2.9% plus 30pence).

In new policy They are not refunding 2.9%, so seller has to bear this.

Well do to the fact that for many ebay sellers being moved onto MP, This will not make much of a difference now, as Paypal is becoming redundant for sellers on ebay. Most other big selling platforms, Etys, Amazon, and now ebay dont even use paypal as far as I know. Of course if you are selling a product or service online through your own website, this could very well hit you hard if your getting alot of chargebacks for high priced items.

Because Paypal cannot get its fee back from its merchant account providers.
refund is a separate transaction, there is also a transaction fee and a smaller % fee involved.
Paypal makes money from the spread, what it pays its merchant account provider say 1% and 10 cents transaction fee and charge us 30 cents plus 2.9 % .
In the old days,Paypal will just eat the fees ,now there are more reversals, refund, disputes, chargebacks.
Also all these negative activities make Paypal look bad, banks could raise its fee .

if you have your own website or brick and mortar store, you can apply for your own merchant account, your transaction fee would not be 30 cents and your discount rate would be less than 2.9%(2.9% is for wannabee sellers ,bad sellers, most stores have a lower discount rate).
But you would have other expenses, like annual fee, there are also monthly fee if you dont give them enough $$,$25 minimum, chargeback fee could be higher and discount rate varies with the cards your buyer used, those which offer fancy perks would have a higher rate.
if you have too many chargebacks, they could raise your rate, set up reserves, raise your chargeback fee,or even close your account
