Bought a friends eBay account
 

Okay so I am new to the forum and I am glad I have found it. I am from the UK!

I have had about 3 ebay accounts banned in the past, my most recent one was the weirdest. 200+ positive feedback, was in my mums name so no ties to me and was over 2 years old. Suddenly get them asking for invoices, provided them this and they decided they would ban me from selling. Makes no sense!

Anyway, I am back and am wanting to sell again. I have just purchased my friends eBay account which he has sold on in the past and is approx 7 years old.

Am I right in thinking that I can go ahead and change the details, email/address etc to my details and start selling normally again? I have a few questions...

1. Should I keep his name on the account or change it to my details?
2. Can I link my PP to it or should I use Managed Payments?
3. I see people using IPBurger. Do I HAVE to use this every time I sign in? What happens if I sign in using the app on my iPhone? I will be using the account at multiple locations/addresses due to work.
4. Should I create a new user account on my MacBook, or will it be safe to sign in on the same user account?

I have read many posts on the forum saying this is a bad idea. What about if I were to just keep everything the same but change the email and bank details? Surely that is not suspicious?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go Stealth with this in mind.

eBay/PayPal are suspicious of everything. Any info that can create a link is deadly.

There is a whole shed-load of things not too good about operating that friend’s account.

You need to work out how much effort you are prepared to put into stealth eBay.

You may have to trade with your friend's details on the account. If you change it to yours, you will get suspended. If you change it to anything other than existing, valid information - it morphs into stealth. Stealth which you could have made yourself.

Some banks accept payment in mismatched names, but what becomes of this nifty little leeway is uncertain when the dust settles with Managed Payment, so that's something else to consider.
There are also taxes, VAT, etc., to deal with.
If I had to use someone's account at this time, I'd partner with them. An outright buy is a disaster waiting to happen.


In the meantime, read the stealth guide, spawn your own stealth accounts and read the MP section. You should still consider stealth accounts even if you partnered with your friend.

Thanks for the information. If I were to go ahead and use his details and partner up, would I still need to only login with IPBurger? Would I need to create a seperate user account on my Mac also or could I remove all ebay details on my current user account?

A regular IP address will do.

You'd need a new user account. I'd delete the old user account just to be safe.
