Can eBay withold my funds if I add my bank account and they ban it?
 

So... I was banned from eBay something like a decade ago over something arbitrary and stupid (I think I cancelled too many orders due to customer requests or something of the like) .

So I have a had a few stealth accounts, one now has had a lot of sales over the weekend but EBay are withholding funds until I add my real name & bank details. If I send off all my parcels then add bank details there’s a chance eBay might permanently restrict my account. If this happens will they just keep all the funds from my sales? Should I send out all my parcels on time or hold on to them and see what happens first?

I’d really rather get my parcels out but don’t want to end up hundreds out of pocket if eBay are just allowed to pocket my money :/

Why do you feel like eb might permanently restrict your account if you're sales are good? How old is this account?

I haven't seen experiences of eb withholding the funds from MP yet

Ebay have banned my account and says my funds are withheld. Its only £200 so not arsed but yeah not looking like ill get it. They've had it a month so far, the account was 3 months old.

UPDATE: There were no issues on my account. No late deliveries, no opened cases. They restricted my account and sent a message to all my customers warning them my account has been restricted etc indicating that there was an “issue” with me.

ALL my items have been sent with tracking and entered on ebays system but some hadn’t yet arrived. Obviously this made some customers panic opened cases and were IMMEDIATELY refunded despite the tracking showing item was in transit.

I contacted eBay support in a panic and they said I hadn’t entered tracking numbers for these items so customers were refunded. I pointed out there were tracking number and they definitely are in Ebays system. The advisor told me the system is preventing them and buyers seeing any tracking yet they can see themselves after checking the tracking that items were sent etc. They told me not to worry, that once my account restrictions were lifted I could appeal these cases and they would refund me.

So I waited and got back to them again. They told me they couldn’t tell me why there’s a restriction on my account but also they will not lift the restrictions as this is now permanent. I had people who had their parcels delivered up to a month ago making false item not claims and being immediately refunded without question. Panicking I got in touch with customer services like what the hell this is obvious thievery. They told me it’s ebays policy to refund customers of restricted accounts without question. They refunded about £300 of my money, let clearly dishonest buyers keep the items and told me I am not allowed to appeal then cut me off. They now say I OWE THEM for all the refunds they gave out.

I’ve tried 6 times to get someone to help me buy each time - your accounts restricted, we don’t care and cut me off.

I have had to call my bank to stop eBay removing funds without my permission.

eBay is not a trustworthy service for sellers at all. Be warned if they catch you out they can give away all the money you earned without question even if you can prove buyers are lying. I dread to think what’s happening to people who’re selling big expensive items right now. They can steal your money and there’s no recourse. Nightmare

Wow thats really bad of eBay and totally sucks for you. I always thought it was PayPal who was the evil brother, but now they PP are more out of the picture, it seems eBay are using a few similar evil tricks. I haven't figured out how to get around Managed Payments yet, but I am desperate because on July 2nd all of my stealths are forced into MP :(

It is anti-competitive - you could look in the the anti competition law in your country.
