Funds release without tracking (MP)
 

I've noticed recently that eBay (with MP) have been holding a lot more payments that usual (across several accounts).

I've also noted that they are not releasing the funds as often. I send the majority of my items untracked, and they are doing the full holds rather than releasing (and it seems like its increased to 30 days from the 21 days with PayPal), even when marked as despatched.

When items are tracked, i'm seeing that those where the tracking doesn't show as delivered (usually royal mail's cheaper tracked services), its not releasing.

Is anyone else having the same experience or am i doing something wong?

you are not doing something wrong,it is industry practise to hold on to your sales proceeds which are either high risk,no tracking and dubious accounts .
30 days vs 21 days?It sounds like Ayden is licking its chops,there is a lot to learn,Paypal has come a long way learning! now it is Ebay/Ayden turn

Thanks for the reply.

Is there anything I can do to speed the process up? Can I ask the buyer to inform eBay they have received the item, something similar?

I used to ask for feedback but one guy left a negative saying I was pushy (I think massively unfairly) so I no longer do that.

Ppl are still exploring MP - no real way of speeding things up yet - maybe you can explore and report back

Perhaps I’ve not been quite clear, though

As recently as three weeks ago, I was getting the majority of payments processing for payout immediately, and those on hold would release a few days after uploading tracking, even if the postman couldn’t be bothered scanning that day and it wasn’t showing as delivered on tracking.

Now almost every payment is held and nothing seems to make holds release

were you using Paypal or MP 3 weeks ago?
what did you sell?
FRAUD is rampant these days,all processors have suffered some losses.so they could be tightening their rules.
You just have to revise your business model,get a working capital loan

I’ve been using managed payments for some time. eBay managers payments seems to have changed recently.

Yes, they have slightly changed their parameters.

Yeah, tend to get a few sales signed, sealed, delivered before being asked for ID.

Not ideal, and likely a large part of the issue.

eBay's help now says:

"If you're a new seller who hasn't established a selling record yet, we might put payments from your buyers on hold. Generally, the funds will be available either:

21 days after the buyer*pays, or
6 days after the estimated delivery date (if no was tracking provided but the item was marked as dispatched), or*
1 day after confirmed delivery
If no tracking is used, we'll check for positive feedback after 3 days (to allow sufficient time for the item to be delivered). If positive feedback has been received, you'll receive the funds within 24 hours. Note: This check is only carried out if no tracking is uploaded. Best practice is to upload tracking so you can receive the funds 1 day after confirmed delivery"

Which would be fine but i'm not seeing that happening.

Any similar experiences?

A huge variety of items; up to now priced £100 to £350

I’m currently listing all my cheaper items to see if that’s the issue

I only don’t use tracking on cheap items.

Even when I do use tracking, it doesn’t always actually work, especially with Royal Mail.

Hi, as per previous post I do use tracking for more expensive items

I have noticed that sometimes the payment still isn’t releasing

FYI, this is rather close to the blurb that pay pal offered. Such holds were a vexation for sellers.

Our new system is trying to establish similar rules.
I expect to speak to someone pretty soon. Happy to share what got said.

Have opened a new account and listed immediately as a test - same result

Spoke to eBay customer service last night on one of my accounts.

They said that 'Managed Payment New Seller Holds' require tracking which show as delivered and nothing else will release the hold for 30 days.

Further to that I sold a book this morning, the payment for which is held. I was careful to select a shipping method which is not tracked (first class large letter) so i will mark as despatched later today and then communicate with eBay again to see if that is treated differently (the shipping method was tracked but the tracking hasn't updated on the account mentioned above.

I have accidentally conflated two issues in this thread;
1) The larger issue: All of my sales at all levels of cost and risk seem to be being held now on new accounts, and those are for 30 days unless tracked

2) A side issue: Royal Mail tracking can be hit and miss unless you pay big money for the premium services, which on a used book, is so ridiculous it's almost funny.

it sounds like you have to live with 30 days hold,unless you have valid tracking.

also some buyers will notice there is no tracking so they wll file INR and get a freebie.

Hello, i would like to add my story, i was directed inside my ebay to add my bank details. but the first screen asked for SSN and DOB. then i closed that window, clicked around my settings tabs, and found another page that said add Bank account info, I then Added my bank account info and it said (your all set up now to receive funds to your bank account.) Is this strange. ? Are they still going to ask for SSN or DOB info?

yes,they will ask for SSN as 1099K will be under SSN

I have the same issue I posted item on the same day they sold and uploaded the tracking no in ebay same day they sold but royalmail system not updating them until they got delivered. So I notice that for eg: if item sold on 1st of June 2021 I uploaded the tracking no on 1st of June 2021 royalmail system mark it as dispatched in my ebay and after that no status update until item delivered.

I also face another issue in my ebay and paypal that instead of item dispatch date it shows item was dispatch and delivered on the same date which is delivery date. I was getting late delivery flags in my ebay because it was showing all my items were shipped 5 days late on delivery date.

So solution to this was ask ebay to remove these defected they were quickly able to see that how come this possible that item shipped 5 days late and then delivered on the same day.

I hope this help contact ebay or paypal and ask them to verify the tracking no status as it is a technical fault in there system

b/w can you tell me one thing to me as you mentioned you have many accounts have you connected them all to one royalmail account ? and did ebay link the accounts if we use one royalmail account across many ebay account ? I have 4 ebay accounts and they all are on different names but I have attached only 1 account to royalmail and all other I am doing manually which is lot of work can you let me know if I attach all 4 account to royalmail will these accounts get linked or not ?

You can speed up things by just going to the following link

there you can select all the late delivery transactions and select the option technical error and then report one by one

in the details you can appeal that the tracking no is not showing correctly where as the item was shipped and delivered on time on royal mail website

the will release the funds held by this transaction

Better use RM48 Service it does provide delivery status type tracking no which is accepted in ebay and will cost nothing extra

if you have royalmail account you can do it
